I have a very well done 1st ed module "Destiny of Kings" for 2nd -4th level characters. the basic plot: The King is dead, felled by an arrow in a 'hunting accident'. His young (17 years old) son is off on a religious pilgrimage disguised as a peasant with only a single guard. PCs are hired by an old advisor to the king who suspects foul play by the King's younger brother. PCs are to find the Prince before the Uncle does and get him back to the capital for coronation.

It's a classic story, of course, but it was unusual in that most of the 'monsters' you faced were PC-races and classes: Bandits in the woods, soldiers in a castle, and so on. I'd like to use it as a basis for a campaign: After rescuing the young king, he hires them as 'troubleshooters' for the kingdom.

Is anyone familiar with this old adventure? and good ideas on how to update it?

Not familiar with it, but if it is a small adventure (Which you have in pdf format or another digital source) I wouldn't mind attempting a conversion to 4e for you.

I'm nearly done with Sons of Gruumsh from 3.5 to 4e anyway :P

Its not a PDF module (PDF didn't exist when this was written in the 1980s!), Its a classic 32-page module, held together with staples.

I did find someone selling the module:

The great thing about the module is that you can pretty much scale it to whatever you want. I was palnning to use it for a higher level adventure before my Players wanted to go back to 3.5. In any case you can design the combat challenges as pretty basic. the trick will be the skill challenges that were orginally left to simply roleplay. You need skill challenges to play it but it would be nice to use them skills you trained in ;)
