| #1ganryuFeb 25, 2009 12:26:44 | You know I never managed to make much sense of how monsters really work in 3,5. Right now I'm stumped trying to create a specific beholder "boss" for one encounter, but I really don't know how to go about doing it. Do I just slap levels on a monster and that's it? Does challenge rating increase by one for each level of character class? I'd like help with the following character: A very specific beholder serves as part of a greater conspiracy. It uses elements from Liber Mortiis and from Lords of Madness. The beholder in question operates from an abandoned underground section of Sharn. It has cut out its central eye in order for it to use magic, and... I don't know what class levels it should have, but it should be able to control undead, and it needs the ability to cast the series of "Necrotic" spells from Liber Mortiis. Maybe someone could either give me reccomendations, or simply throw together one monster such as this. It should be a challenge for a party of 3-4 level 12-14ish characters. |
