| #1yamishinobiSep 21, 2008 20:08:35 | idea from 3.5 I was looking through complete adventururer the other day. i noticed a very odd feat, one that gives 5 skill points. i thought that if 5 skill points is worth a feat, shouldn't a feat be worth 5 skill points. Possible idea A feat can be exchanged for 5 skillpoints. 5 skill points can be traded for a feat. you can only do this once per level, (you cannot have more feats gained in this fashion than the intellegence modifer you started with at 1st level before racial modifers, inherent or experience earned ability increases do not raise this, nor do other bonuses, penalties do not reduce it.) I.E. ( Gray elf wizard with 18 intellegence (16 before racial modifiers) is entitled to 3 feats in this way) ( a half orc with 10 intellegence (12 before mods) gets 1 feat in this fashion, this applies for 1 20 level interval, (such as 1st-20th 21st-40th 41st-60th) you may have it in this fashion for each 20 level interval seperately. Skill points granted from permanent intellegence increases are retroactive (don't count ability damage/drain) Benefits Certain feat needy builds starve less feat chains are more achievable drawbacks everybody becomes intellegence dependant in some way please PEACH this idea. |

A feat should be worth more than 5 skill points You are right though, it would eat the entire purpose of the fighter. If you want to make feats more accessible, simple grant feats more often and offer the fighter something to compensate. |

A feat should be worth more than 5 skill points what if i put a limit on the total feats you can purchase? (such as equal to your Natural intellegence modifier) (Headband of intellect cannot be abused to grant extra feats.) helps enchanters, (feat dependant) rogues (feat dependant) monks (feat dependant) and multiclass characters (multiroles) |

And do not allow level boosts to expand the limit. Most people can afford a 12 - 14 for an extra feat or two, but it doesn't let the wizard who starts with 20 Intelligence gain a feat a level for the first 6 levels. |
