I'm trying to make a ritual which will assist my characters (and law enforcing NPCs) in solving crimes. Because my game is still in the heroic tier, and I don't want to force characters to spend ludicrous amounts of gold for what may provide useless or little information I've made the ritual reasonably low level, what are people's thoughts on this?

Please tell me how you would use this in a game?
Is it balanced? If not, what can I do to improve it?

Flashback
The events of the past week flow around you, shadowy visions shifting erratically in your mind. Focusing on the dagger in your hand a figure suddenly appears in your minds eye… now you know the prince didn’t kill his father, the killer was a woman.

Level: 7
Component Cost: 200 gp
Market Value: 500 gp.
Category: Divination
Time: 10 minutes
Duration: Instantaneous
Key Skill: Arcana or Religion

When you perform this ritual, choose a specific question regarding the past week at this location. You may choose to ask a question about a specific time (What happened at noon three days ago?) or regarding a particular event that has occurred within the last week (Who stabbed the prince?). You receive a vision of the location at the time in question and are able to make out figures of any people who were there, and what they appear to be doing. The vision is not clear enough to recognise individuals, although you are able to make out gender, racial characteristics and a number of details depending on your Arcana or Religion check.

Check Result Number of details
19 or lower 2 visual only
20 – 24 3 visual only
25 – 29 4 visual only
30 – 39 5 visual and one sound
40 or higher 7 visual, one sound, one smell

Sounds like this ritual here, just at a lower level and a bit weaker.

Inquisitive’s Eyes
You close your eyes to find your center. When you open them, you see the crime scene in a new light.

Component Cost: 125 gp
Market Price: 680 gp
Key Skill: ArcanaLevel: 8
Category: Divination
Time: 10 minutes
Duration: Instantaneous

You cast your senses back through time to observe your current location as it was up to a number of hours ago no greater than your Arcana check result. You can observe the scene as if you were there, although you cannot affect anything.

Thanks Polis, I may use that ritual or modify my own slightly. At least I have something comparable to look into.

I am intentionally keeping the ritual quite weak, because it is meant to provide clues, rather than solve the crime in 10 minutes.
