However, it IS doable, depending on what sort of effect you might want to have it in game. If it's purely for out of combat purposes, you might want to consider just making it a ritual, and using the spell pretty much as is. However, if it's to have applications in combat, you might want to make it something that has a specific effect, such as creating a small stone wall or protrusion to be used as cover. What sort of applications would this be used for? |
| #3necrosnoop110Sep 09, 2008 16:17:08 | Thanks for the feedback. I have a homebrewed underdark campaign (from 3E that I would like to translate over to 4E) that uses stone shape as a major plot device for a sub-dwarf race. I guess a ritual would be the best idea. Any suggestions? Peace, Necro |

Level: 10 Category: Exploration Time: 1 minute Duration: Instantaneous Component Cost: 400 gp Market Price: 1000 gp Key Skill: Arcana or Religion You can form an existing piece of stone within 10 squars of where you use the ritual into any shape that suits your purpose. While it’s possible to make crude coffers, doors, and so forth with stone shape, fine detail isn’t possible. There is a 30% chance that any shape including moving parts simply doesn’t work. |

With it being a ritual how can I justify this with it costing 400gp a pop? |
| #6ff6shadowSep 09, 2008 17:53:37 | Perhaps a paragon racial feat that lets them ignore this rituals cost once per day? Or an ability within a racial paragon path. |
| #7veritascitorSep 09, 2008 18:44:49 | It seems that if they can do this alot, perhaps it would actually be a much lower level ritual? Also, one quibble: remove the 30% chance of moving part failure, as 4E has done away with any sort of percentile failures and such. Either moving parts can work, or they don't at all. |
