| #1funkylordwedgeJan 18, 2012 13:56:04 | I'm starting up a campaign for some friends. I've a buddy who is going a shield dwarf knight. Knights get three powers of interest to choose from; attacks with heavy bladed weapons, attacks with staves and attacks with hammers. The special they get is specific to when they "power strike." As a shield dwarf, he has an option of getting axe profiency as opposed to warhammer. I'm thinking, and I was curious as to what others thought, that it's not too far-fetched to allow for attacks with an axe to count towards "heavy bladed" weapon effects. Thoughts? |

| #3sallaJan 18, 2012 14:28:12 | Unless his axe is in the Heavy Blade group, it is not a Heavy Blade and does not qualify for anything that requires the use of a Heavy Blade. |

I'm aware. The question, however, is that it seems a small thing to home rule. I don't see that it would be substantially break anything to do so, then. As such, I was curious as to what other DM's thoughts were on *that.* Unless you're just stating your opinion. |

| #6MetafictionalJan 18, 2012 15:15:36 | But to more accurately answer the question, no, it won't break anything if all you're letting him do is claim the Weapon Specialization bonus when using an Axe. Given that they printed a whole slew of Feats that grant special benefits when you Power Strike with various weapons, I think it's a shame the Knight and Slayer have such narrow options with melee weapons. |
| #7LeekanhJan 18, 2012 15:50:15 | You can even simply use the stat of a heavy blade and trat it like an axe for narrative purposes. For example, you use the stat of the longsword, but you narrate it like an axe... Simple enough, and it won't change the game in any way! |
| #8blackknight1239Jan 18, 2012 16:00:14 | I wouldn't care, at any rate. If the axe was that important to the player, I think MOST axes aren't as good as swords anyway, so I'd would do that in a heart-beat. |
