If I should repost elsewhere, please let me know and I will do so! This is nothing I've invested heavily in, they were just a couple of ideas I was kicking around. Whatcha all think?

I suppose as an epic tier feat this isn't terribly OP, being epic and all, but I wonder if a balancing factor to certain spells isn't the friendly fire aspect. On Wake the Dead, I'd probably go the ritual route. I'll have to check the Zombie Rotter stats at home to see the balance level. One question: is this designed for your players? |

But you should compare the prereqs of that one (I forget it's name at the moment), and make yours a little more stringent, as yours is essentially better. (Also, epic feats have stat pre-reqs of 21, not 14. Heroic are 13 or 15, and Paragon 17 or 19). As for the raising the dead, it should definitely be an epic-level ritual. Feats only contain minor bonuses in 4E, not entirely new powers and such. However, summoning spells in general have been removed due to balance issues (i.e. no one likes playing with someone who's raised an entire army and having to wait an hour while the guy takes his turn). Stuff like this should go in the House Rules forum. They'll be able to help you there. ![]() |

I hear a lot of people bemoaning the fact that they can't create a decent necromancer with the 4e rules. I understand why they took out the summoning spells, but I still thought it was pretty much a hallmark of the necromancer to summon undead minions. Hmm, maybe I'll save Wake the Dead as a special power for a BBEG... My whole thing about Friend or Foe was that, IMO, too many wizard powers target "creatures" and not "enemies". I don't know anybody who appreciates having their PC take friendly fire, whether or not they have enough hp. The FRPG has a paragon feat, I think it's called "War Caster" or something like that, that lets your allies take a +5 to their saves and only take half damage if they fail. I was thinking of something one tier up that lets a wizard show off just how much control he has. I was also thinking of maybe just creating an Epic Destiny that has this as a power, but I haven't gone too far in that direction. |
