| #1cool_guyJun 15, 2011 1:23:49 | Hi I have clean up the gramer and spelling in my canpige setting and also change the title so that people would care more. There is some new materal though In the world the Empire controls almost the entire continent. The only main place they have no control is the vast north which they are separated by the wall mountain range and the grate swamp. The north is mostly a winter wasteland for much of the year. While not evil it is highly strict. Almost all criminals are sent to the frozen north to be what a slow painful death is most likely. But 300 years age 2 large cults were found and all members were exiled to the north. The cults were of Kord (far more Destructive and war like god.) Who feels that people should war forever and strong should rule? The second cult was Zemus (Yes I did get the name from Final Fantasy 4, I don't own it though for people who care about copyrights) sometimes called the dark Noble of the gods. A dark god of Slavery who feels that the high born should enslave all to there is. The two cults preyed to their gods for help and after some infighting about which gods should the people follow the two gods made a divine compromise. It states that the gods will show the people where they can make a new home in this deadly land, but only the strong shall rule and the weak must tend to the manual labor as slaves. Also the strong must constantly prove their worth and the slaves can win their freedom though combat. The gods lead them to a mouth of an underground cave heated by geo thermal power where they could grow vast amounts of mushrooms for food, a something very important in the cold north. Thus was born the city of Midgard One point I must tell you about is that owning slaves does not make you evil in this setting; it is how you take care of them that dose. Are they respected servants are play toys without a right to chose. The way that slaves are treaded starts many a brawl in Midgard after all Muls did not come in being naturally. yes I am bad with names so most of them are gotten from video games. Demographist Population 12840 Human 25% Elf 10% Dragonborn 7% Halflings 8% Dwarf 18% Tieflings 15% Eladrin 5% Mul 3% Other 9%
Some info on the power groups around and outside the city. Oh keep in mind that I am bad with names. Sorry about that The Red Guard They say that they are here to guard the city from outside threats, while they do this the leader the Guard Masters is the closest thing the city of Midgard has to a king. They can tell people what buildings to build or tear down, select punishment for the times people actually bring in a criminal alive, and can raise an army to attack any target they desire or forbid the rest of the city from attacking something. Arena Masters The main way for Slaves to win their freedom is to win 3 Fights in the Arena. Group fights are allowed. But this means that a big supple of monster must be keep in the city. Monster Races like gnolls and Oni or huge monster like Manticore and Displacer Beast are common foes in the Arena. The people in the city also like watch this kind of bloodspot so the Arena Master try to make the monster even more deadly (use monster themes and Templates) The Arena Master have build a huge coliseum for the fights and holding pens and cages for the monster around the city. The Hunters Guild The people of the city cannot live solely on mushrooms so the hunter guild goes out into the wild to hunt monster so the city can have some meat in their diet. The hunters Guild often takes many slaves out with them on their hunts to them can get used to combat and using weapons. This makes them very popular with many in the city both powerful and weak. The Builder Guild A city can't build itself It needs manpower and it needs materials. The manpower comes from the Builder Guild, but the materials come from anything they can find: wood, ice blocks, and bone for giant monster are all usable. However the most should after materials come from strongholds form the Hobgoblins, they make frequent raids on hobgoblins to take the bricks from the strongholds. The Shadow Blades Since many of the city people are criminals many of them don't even try to change their ways. This secret guild still robs and kills people in the night. All of the dark cults even the city of Vaina hire and make use of them. The city doesn’t have much a watch to fight the Shadow Blades so most of the efforts to fight them are in small groups of people who may be the adventures. No matter how many times the Shadow Blades were kill off they rise anew. The Tower Mages There are 4 massive towers in the city which are always by each of the four outer walls that surround the city. If the wall moves with it, these are the homes of the Tower Mages The Tower Mages are in a unique position in the city. Anyone that has arcane talent (anyone forms an Arcane Class) is placed under the care of the Tower and made a citizen. This would seem to break the principle of the strong only being made citizens, but the people realize that magic has its own strength to it. Also the mages must constantly use their magic to help the city, from using rituals to strengthen the building, slaying monsters, or building golems. Most people of the cities slave cast resent the fact that Tower Mages do not have to earn their freedom like they do, and there are some Mages that feel that the city should belong to the Tower Mages The Temple District After so many years of so many different people coming in to the city that all most all the gods has a church in the city. The laws such as they are only forbid the gods that are totally disruptive and the devil, so a god like Bane would be here because of his army building ways while Timat would not because the vengeance she foster would rip the city apart. The Clerics of the gods behave as they normally do preaching their faith, tending the sick, taking in orphans. However not all of their plans are as nice you would think, many Clerics find the situation intolerable. Having 2 of the most evil and Destructive god’s blessing the city is so wrong in their eyes that it must be change. They somehow plot for the removal of one or both gods from the divine compromise and the adding of their own. I will talk about the land in the north. does anyone know the reference here? Nidavellir Mountains Far to the north of Midgard lies the Nidavellir Mountains. Here can be found the only other point of light in the north. A vast Dwarf kingdom can be found here with its main city of Orzammar. One would think that even the dwarfs would be hard pressed to survive the dangers of the north, but the Orzammar dwarfs are by far the greatest smith on the continent almost as if they can infuse magic into all there weapons. Also the Nidavellir Mountains are the only place on the continent where Mithral and Adamantine can be found which draws in Halfling traders to the mountains so they are always well stocked. There biggest help is the secret to building Warforged, living construct warriors to add to their on forces giving them a huge army. The people of Midgard are at odds with each other on whether to trade with the Orzammar or raid them. For now at least the Red Guard has forbidden contact with the Dwarfs until the city can come to agreement. The Halflings Traders A strange merchant house of Halflings from the empire makes regularly trips to the city of Orzammar for the adamantine and mithral which they can sell for huge profit in the empire. No one know how there are able to safely cross the Steaming Swamp and the other dangers of the North, some say magic others say it’s more evil than that. The Heads of the city are very worried about these traders for if they can be found or much less let into the city then the slaves of the city might try to return to the empire. And one huge thing you must know is that the empire does not know about Midgard just yet, what would happen if they found out that most of their exiled people were not dying like they were meant to. The Whispering Woods A couple days journey east of Midgard and you will find the Whispering Woods. The woods have a strong link the Feywild and the phantom Eladrin cities are said to be found here. Many monster and goblins can be found here so loggers need much protection. You ask an Eladrin that was saved from a goblin camp why they do not try to return to their cities in the Whispering would, they say the magic that protects the cities from outsider also keeps out any Eladrin was captured so they can’t lead any to their city. |
