| #1ifritusJan 10, 2010 16:58:27 | Hi folks. You may remeber me... the pesky one who posts with Qs all the time on the balance of class features and stuff from his HB ideas? so what happened to the revamped ones? they were trashed!! - Why you ask.. i havent a clue. all i know is i want to give some HB newbies an idea of the path you take when making a class. Step 1: the concept (IE: the role!) this is the big one I think... take the choice wisely. (last year i tried to roll a striker called the gladiator, which typically ended up a Role: Undefined. your role typically chooses a lot for you, specifically your wep/arm profs and start hp, hp/lvl and surges. eg: all strikies are currently 12 + con, 5, 7+con mod for their hp, hp/lvl and surge set up. and then comes Power source, which is another biggie.... it kinda is the one of the foundations to the flavour of the class. and some monor adjustments to the hp setup.. currently Primal is slightly better off, and shadow is worse. (i think) and of course, abilities.. now why does that caster need strength?(dragon sorc aside!!) try and read the descriptions in the PH1 to determine what they best suit, but ill generalise a little melee weapon users generally use Strength as their main stat. ranged weapons are Dexterity and caster types, with the exception of mr warlock, use Wis or Int to attack. of course, variations of this are good... the lock is a good example. Con as an attack score for a magic user looks odd, but when you learn that he has to be able to withstand the energy in his body afore throwing at you... --- POWERS: this is the time taker.... 1,1,1,1,2,3,5,7,9,10,,12,13,15,16,17,19,22,23,25,27,29.... and at least one power choice per build per level... thats a lot.. it gets easier when you realise theyare kinda paired lv1 encounter and daily-- 13/15 powers- 23-35 3 encoutner- 17 enc- 27 5 daily - 19 daily- 29 the power tiers shown mean that the level 13 encounter power should be a powered up version of the level 1 encounter power. that means all you need to alter is the name, flavour text, maybe the range, effect severity etc. but ofc. thats why most of mine attempts at a HB class failed, i couldt think of powers at all.. so i have a little guid for those who want to make a Hb class: Steps: 1: do class traits, class flavour description. 2: think up your class features, builds... 3: do class feats. 4: do paragon paths (flavour, prereqs, features. NOT PP powers!) 5: do the Heroic tier powers, then Paragon powers, then PP powers, then Epic powers. If your going for a Class Epic D... then go for it... i havent tried that yet. I hope my inane babble actually helps someone! Yours sincerely Ifritus |
