They where hired by the leader of the revolution to cause unrest in the land. While the thieves guild may not be perfect they will succeed in causing unrest, but leaving subtle clues for the players. The leader of the revolution's real ally however is Asmodeus who easily succeeds at convincing the kingdom that the king is in league with him. After scapegoating any incriminating evidence on a NPC wizard the leader of the revolution will lead the players in an assault against the king.(unless the players are exceptionally clever and make a leap of faith on the wizard NPC's behalf) after which he reveals his plan. Too sacrifice the royal family too Asmodeus and become a Prince of hell. (even if the players succeed he will get this honor Asmodeus has plans for this exceptional human and he is already pleased with how far his plan has came). While the leader of the revolution is EVIL he has made great efforts too indulge his nature unnoticed. Unless the players make a leap of faith and search high and low there will be no clues too tip off the players. If they do make the effort they will get subtle clues like the fact all the enemy prisoners tend too die in "failed escape attempts" |

I would think that they'd have to have regular and repeated contact with the party. At least some of that contact would occur in the administrative offices of the kingdom, or in front of people that would know the TG members are actual king's officers. I'd need a lot more details of the revolution. Historically, most revolutions are run by somebody who already has a power base within the legitimate govt. |

Most of the thieves guild work outside the major cities, and those who do are skilled enough too forge records and craft disguises etc. As for the king he's a strict human ruler but, works hard too maintain peace with the land of barbarians, the goblin king, and the emperor of mankind.(or what ever race feels more relevant) The leader of the revolt has no real claim too power, but is extremely charismatic think Castro during his youth or leader of the Soviet revolt. please assume all names are placeholders the campaign comes before naming |
| #4vaashinthesleepingmasterJul 07, 2008 23:47:27 | too give you an idea heres the campaign arc. 1-4 level. keep of shadowfell or a "on the road adventure" (these adventures are so the party can find there stride and have next too nothing too do with the plot) 5-8 level. rebellion (this is were the thieves guild members posing as soldiers try too get under the party's skin and get them too join the rebellion) 9-11 level. betrayal (this is the make or break moment for the party if they want too be the hero) 12-16 level. fortify (as mentioned in a previous post this is where the party has too take shelter in an abandon castle with those who rejected the leader of the rebellions rule or as he now calls himself the dread emperor or some other appropriate name) 17-20 level. gather allies (this is where the party travels around too find allies nuff said) 21-24 level. assault the dread emperor (nuff said) 25-30 level. slay the dread emperor's son and wife (defeating the dread emperor won't mean jack if Asmodeus plan comes too fruition) |
