| #1stealthmarmotOct 14, 2008 6:40:05 | Currently Slartibartfast and crew are in my world which is undergoing construction as we speak. I have spent a good amount of time working on it, but unfortunately I still have not completed it. The general area has been made, but I feel it is just too.... simple for an entire world. Thus I have decided to, gods help me, seek the help of the collective brainpower of this board. Basically, I would like your feedback on "Hey this is cool" or "This seems out of place" or "This is cliched" or "This kind of works, but you should consider adding X". No offense, but unless otherwise stated I don't want specific concepts from your campaign or brain added to my world, but generic concepts you feel would add to the game would help, feel free to state them. (i.e "You know if you had some sort of tyrannical land, it would help emphasize the freedom of another land", but I don't want "Add the land of Tyr, a Tyrant's land ruled by a tiefling to your game!") Be honest but be kind. I will be editing this post with all the relevant info. By the way, cookies to anyone who notices references. And without further ado, I give you: Central Theme Pondera is Latin for "balance", which is one of the central themes of this world. Though not everything is equal, with every push there is a pull. With every good, an evil, with every fire, a flood, with every life, a death. Hubris leads to fast ruin, and the world at large is going to enforce that. Pondera is also meant to be very diverse in it's geography. It contains craggy mountains, deep jungles, rolling hills, temperate forests, frozen highlands, vast deserts, deep oceans, and wide seas. |
| #2stealthmarmotOct 14, 2008 6:53:33 | Added pantheon. EDIT: Added all info to top post. |
| #3matthewswiftOct 14, 2008 14:11:26 | Needs people. Populate your world with interesting characters to match an interesting pantheon and things will be, well... more interesting. As it is you've got more than enough big picture. Get in the pcs shoes. Unless they're talking to/killing gods the world is without color. The aspect names rock btw. greek influence right? Erubi(s) Pyrrus etc. |
| #4stealthmarmotOct 14, 2008 14:40:24 | Added race descriptions. EDIT: All info added to top post! |

Right now I am working on general and working down to specific. I have some adventures planned with characters, but political figures haven't been made yet, so I guess thats the next part I will have to work on. Pyrrus was taken from the Greek name, but was chosen mainly because it resembled Pyro. Erubi, honestly I cant remember how I came up with that name, but it sounded good and it also happens to be pronounced like "ruby" which is a red stone. Some of the names I just let my mind wander and come up with made up words that sounded like names. Others were contractions or jumbles of inside jokes and references. |
| #6matthewswiftOct 14, 2008 16:00:26 | Soloman reminds me of those dudes from hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. Erebis is the underworld in greeko/roman mythology (ish). Samel reminds me of the hound of the resurrection Samael from Hellboy mythos (and then some I think). Dorai just keeps swimming. and Hulsan would be my patron aspect, but I can't pin him down (no pun intended) |

| #8Bobfred21Oct 16, 2008 4:14:33 | I really enjoyed the mythology but after reading through the races I'm feeling a bit uninspired. They don't really feel unique. You've added minor twists to a couple of them, but mostly their exactly like the humans/Elves/Dwarves/Orcs/etc... of every other fantasy setting either. Also, I note that you've included Eladrin but not Dragonborn? Is this intentional or a slip of the memory? |

It is intentional, they do not exist in my setting...yet. DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE SOMEONE I KNOW! Dragonborn One of the intended events is the eventual war that will be happening, specifically, the war between a certain Kingdom in a land called Hylanne and a land called Avalon. Avalon is a highly magical realm, with major focuses on the arcane and all the power it holds. Hyllane will eventually attack, and the city will be saved when it's current ruler exposes himself as being a Great Wyrm Dragon. He will first raise the island on a high plateau, and then surround the city in a perpetual storm. This will keep out all outsiders and prevent anyone from Avalon from ever contacting the outside world for over 200 years. When finally the storm dissipates, they will be MAD at the rest of the world and attack, with new bred warriors specially made to match their arcane power. These warriors will be winged dragonborn. Originally humans, they will be altered under the dragons orders to be augmented to be dragonlike and great warriors. Eventually Avalon will lose and as part of the surrender agreement will be the dismantling of the army. The dragonborn will be considered too dangerous to be allowed to be winged, and they will have their wings surgically removed both as a preventative and as a pennance for serving Avalon on the wrong side. From then on the Dragonborn will have their wings clipped off directly after birth. Those that keep their wings wont be welcome in normal society as it is considered an act of rebellion. |
| #10stealthmarmotOct 20, 2008 14:43:25 | It has occurred to me that I left some information out of the race descriptions. I will edit this now. Edited: Updated Dwarf and Goblins. EDIT: I have placed all info in the first post, editing all posts afterwards to simply state what I updated in each post. |
| #11Book5Oct 29, 2008 11:51:06 | Any thoughts on making a map? |
| #12stealthmarmotOct 31, 2008 11:03:07 | I actually have made a map, but not on my computer and I dont have a digital camera, and even if I did it wouldnt come out too well seeing as how I still have a grid on the surface I drew it on. |
