I, along with my fellow players, enjoy adding a little spice to the game and I was looking at some possible ideas when it came to house rules. I will go with them in some form or fashion, but if you had any interesting twists or a way you think I could work it better.. I would enjoy feedback. 1) Magic as an addiction I took this idea similar to Warcraft. Unlike Warcraft, It wont be a be all end all type of addiction. If you use magic, or you have magic weapons, you will get a good feeling or vibration, you might not even notice it. (Similar to Caffeine). If you ever stop using magic, don't use it for a while - or your magic weapon is removed: You will have a yearning to want to get near or use magic. If you continue not, you will feel like you have the flu (giving some negatives to your stats) for a few days. So, it would really add a bit of atmosphere and fun role play to it.. With out making it be devastating. 2) Rituals to make Magical weapons? In my campaign, I am thinking of having Magic on it's way out. This means that those who use it, or those who create objects to use it, are finding it increasingly harder. Because of the magic slowly slipping away, it means that to make anything magical you would have to do a Ritual. Depending on what you want done.. means the ritual.. This would add an interesting economic value.. 3) Kingdoms Versus ... whatever I am thinking of instead of having powerful kingdoms and governments vying for power, to have provinces or rich states with different kinds of rulers.. Kind of like Inu Yasha where there was no central authority.. (Inu Yasha was the first thing that came to my mind to explain it..) 4) Interesting Homebrew.. If you have anything interesting and want to throw it out there! Feel free! Thanks guys ;) |

It's in the Campaigns section of the forum and also has its own web page. It is very much like the Dune universe, so there are various factions, the stuff to make rituals is rare and highly valuable, and you could even make magic addictive in the same way that Spice was addictive in the Dune universe. |

I also had an idea to give each individual empire (if I go with solid empires) their own unique type of currency that would be measured against the gold system. Gold would still exist and be universal, however each kingdom would have it's own pressed currency which would either be worth more or less then the gold.. I am looking through the posts and their are alot of good ideas here. |
