I'm fairly new to the game, just starting when 4e came out, and have played a little and DM'd a couple of campaigns for a few other newbies.  I've dm'd Keep on the Shadowfell and Thunderspire Labryinth and am getting ready to do Pyramid of Shadows.  The only problem I've run into is determining what information to give the PC's.  Most of the campaigns give Background and and Adventure Synopsis.  What I've done before has been to give them the background and then let the adventure synopsis play itself out.  Is this how I'm supposed to do it?  Or should I tell them nothing other than what they find out themselves through conversation and exploration?

In the past I've found that I need to keep a strong flow of information into the players' hands for little effort on their part, unless doing something very specific such as a murder mystery. It sometimes takes several different repeats to get the background plot and atomsphere firmly established in the game.

A published plot synopsis may well contain spoilers for the rest of the adventure though . . . I suggest referencing it when you re-cap at the start of the session, or if players ask questions of an NPC who knows a fragment or two of it.
