| #1vala2011Dec 29, 2011 13:43:08 | I will soon be building a homebrew world but would like to take an adventure module and basically implant it into my homebrew. Any advice on doing this? Also wondering what determines the modules level. I recieved Seekers of the Ashen Crown for Christmas and want to run it, but my party will already be up to probably level 4 by the time we finish our current adventure (Ashen Crown is level 2-5). Is it just the encounters that determine the level? If that's the case I can easily bump up the encounter levels to fit in. Thanks! |

Levelling up your monsters is pretty easy - check out the DMG errata, p 184-185 here: www.wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd/u... |

Or, since you are a DDI subscriber, use the Monster Builder from Adventurer Tools, just find the monster in the list and costumize it by leveling it up. |

I bought Seekers of the Ashen Crown used over Christmas and I'll be running it with my players too. They are at level 2, but I'm likely going to update all the enemies anyway to match the new math used in MM3 and beyond. Although, since I only have 3 players (and 1 Companion Character), I may need to revamp the encounters a little more. I plan on running the first session as written- no changes to the mobs at all, but upgrading the skill DC's. My players are decently optimizes, so I don't see it as a big problem if they are facing encounters at higher XP value. I'm not using XP, but letting them level when the plot requires it. |
