| #1slizeJun 18, 2010 23:55:27 | I'm having a hard time inventing compelling reasons for adventure sites and events to exist. My players love to pull at the logic of the game, its part of the fun for them. As such, I can't figure out why some adventures would exist. For example, were the players captured I can't determine why it would make sense for the captors to not surround them 24/7 with overwhelming guard forces. My players wouldn't be able to understand this either. Another example, why would an even mildly intelligent being spread his or he defense out all through their domain? Why would players not face all of the creatures forces right off the bat? I'm having trouble answering these questions for myself and for my players and its causing to have a major block in my adventure writing. I'll devise an awesome idea for an encounter only to think about its motivation and decide there's no way to justify it! Please help! |

(Though not too heavily, as they are unarmed) Then, after several days of being questioned and tortured, something attacks the dungeon/castle/prison. (Allies of the PC's, possibly) The guards answer a call to arms, and leave the PC's unguarded. They escape on their own, or with the help of allies. This method allows for 2 skill challenges. A questioning/torture challenge, and an escape challenge. The answer to the other question is simple. The players are not the only ''force'' in this world. Sure, they are a powerfull menace, but that doesn't mean they are the only ones causing problems in the realms. |
