ALU-DEMON; HALF-SUCCUBUS RACIAL TRAITS Average Height: 5´ 4˝–6´ 0˝ Average Weight: 130–170 lb. Ability Scores: +2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma Size: Medium Speed: 6 squares Vision: Darkvision Languages: Common, Supernal Skill Bonuses: +2 Bluff, +2 Diplomacy Fire Resistance: Resist 5 fire Wings: The alu-demon wings are not as strong as real Succubus wings so she can’t fly for a long time, she have to be in her real form to use the wings, she can use Fly two times per encounter and always reduces falling damage by 2. Charming Kiss: (standard; daily) Cha vs Will; on a hit the alu-demon dazes her opponent (save ends) Change Shape (minor; at will) The alu-demon can alter slightly its physical form to take on the appearance of a similar and same sex Medium humanoid, this effect hides the wings and other devil features too. Fly (move; encounter) x2 She can use her wings to fly up to her base speed. |

Your other abilities are going to be fairly good, so leave it at Commmon. I'd also suggest replacing darkvision with low-light ... so ALU-DEMON; HALF-SUCCUBUS RACIAL TRAITS Average Height: 5´ 4˝–6´ 0˝ Average Weight: 130–170 lb. Ability Scores: +2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma Size: Medium Speed: 6 squares Vision: Low-light Languages: Common Skill Bonuses: +2 Bluff, +2 Diplomacy Fire Resist: You have resist fire 5 + one-half your level. Wings: You can make an Acrobatics check to reduce falling damage untrained. Reduce the amount of falling damage by the full check result. You can use winged flight as an encounter power. |

| #4rikijiSep 11, 2008 12:45:10 | Specifically, it's in the rules - p.25 of the PH and p.171 of the DMG. I'm not entirely sure of the intent of the rule, but since Supernal and Abyssal are supernatural languages filled with words of power, it may simply be to preserve their esoteric feel. I suspect there may be a rule system related to the two languages that they didn't have time to finish for the PH, because as is the rule feels kind of arbitrary. You could say that learning Supernal or Abyssal requires a devotion to linguistic study that is not reflected in a character's starting languages - and you can't pick it up at 1st level through Linguistics simply to avoid confusion. |
| #5alumanSep 11, 2008 14:57:16 | I believe somewhere its mentioned native speakers of Abyssal and Supernal can be understood by everyone. So a race that has Abyssal/Sueprnal as one of its start languages AUTOMATICALLY is understood by everyone (Defeating the point of langauges in the first place) |
| #6athistaurSep 11, 2008 15:22:19 | Page 171 in the DMG. Native Supernal is a universal Language and is understood by every creature. However, this only applies if spoken by a native speaker, angels, devils (We have a devil here) and gods, basicly Immortals. It explicitly says if a mortal learns supernal he speaks a flawed supernal which isn't universaly understood. A level 2 character can take the linguist feat and is allowed to speak the flawed supernal to communicate with immortals. Further, Supernal and Abyssal contain words of power which contain "the raw magic of creation". It's not ellaboreted which powers those are. Those words are know only to a native speaker. The rule "no supernal/abyssal" at level 1 is an easy fix to prevent a pc from ever being a native speaker to those languages. If he would be, he would be able to use words of power and could talk to any being. Back to your Alu-Demon. I propose to take flawed supernal as 1. level Language. This fullfills the purpose of the "no supernal on 1. level" rule. And as a Alu-Demon i think it's fitting to only be able to speak the flawed supernal. |
| #7vebrandssonFeb 02, 2009 18:20:17 | Actually I have to piont out that Rikiji and Athistaur are wrong. The Gnoll race that appeared in Dragon starts off with Abyssmal as a racial language, and by the looks of things the Deva race of the PHB2 will start off with Supernal. So I see no reason why this race can't have that language. |

It's kind of a strange rule ... we're correct in the sense that we are actualy citing the RAW, but it's entirely possible that WotC has reconsidered. |

Edit> OTOH the sheet shows the shaman using a crossbow when they don't get simple ranged so, there are some inaccuracies on it. |
