Recently I had an idea, possibly shared with others about some previously established worlds that might be very interesting to use as dnd campaign worlds. Before i played dnd one of my favorite addictions was magic the gathering. In that game several worlds have been established and with some effort i think each one could be used as a campapaign world, esp if the dm who is working on this campaign has read enough of the books. The bigest problem I would have is that though some of the worlds are not well described in the mediums accessable on the internet. I was think the best place to start would be Dominaria since its very well documented and maps seem to have been made. The time i would set it would depend on if the PC's were natives to that plane or if they were from somewhere else. I forsee trouble with the five colors of mana part of these worlds if they are natives but likely since only devine and arcane sofar use magic it would likely be a simple conversion of words but without any real changes to the game. Alignment combined with player class and race would probably determine what color your under if any. If the charecters were from a world that does not use the color system such as if you were to have had them come from one of the pre-established dnd worlds such as grey hawk it would be as simple as color doesnt really matter. In that case I would say that either they in the case of devine charecters brought the grace of their god into that world to bring about new followers. In the case of arcane it would be that it really doesnt matter what kind of energy that charecter was using since arcane users tend to be able to convert raw magical energy so where it came from doesnt matter as much. Idealy This campaign would be a time hoping one through the origional storylines. Likely the players might start either in the time of the thran or within the brothers war. Then they might jump to the dark or ice age. After that they might find themselves following on the heals of the crew of the weatherlight. If the campaing would continue they would go so far as the apocolipse and then find themselves hundreds of years in the future and have some sort of infulence on the events in the sets that followed. I have not spent as much time paying attention to the recent sets but this could probably be facilitated by the events in the time spiral set. Mirrodin , Ravnica, Lorwyn would also make interesting places to use.
