Has anybody put together a fix for the "you will only ever get this much wealth, and we are going to parcel it out to you in 300 easy payments on the 1st and 15th of every month" Economic system? Specifically, since I am coming from 2e, has anyone come up with a random treasure table? Or should I just go get the 3.5 DMG and use that?

Parcel it out differently. Split up a parcel into separate treasures, combine other parcels, etc. Distribute them unevenly in different adventures. The players should never know the difference.

Random treasure Table.

Wonderous
Potion
Gold
Gems
Art
Roll again twice

for a nice round 20 items to choose from.

Roll a d20, and take whatever it gives. Then look at the book, for an item of their level. Then add 1d4 or subtract 1d4 (Id just alternate each time) and count that many spaces up or down from the magic items chart.

For a level 6 group.
Roll 1d20- result 2
Check out weapons page
Look at magic weapon +2 a level 6 item. roll 1d4 result 3
Count 3 steps up giving us the duelist weapon +2.

Done.

For gold, arts and gems, just give rough equivilents to the suggested magic item value of an item of their level. You find 300gp, and 250 silver. You find a gem youd guess to be worth 250ish and another worth roughly 700. Ect.

Why dose it have to be so technical . Give them gold and items as you see fit just make sure they can pay for what they want/need or what you want/need them to have as your adventure goes on...
