| #2NovacatFeb 19, 2009 0:24:14 | I've come up with a couple ideas... In fact, I've refined my graphic since the last "4E in Hexes" thread. Basically, nothing changes except the size of creatures and area-effects. The key to determining these is to make sure that no two hexes are more than a given distance from each other. In the given illustration: ![]() Yellow hexes are a large creature, or a blast 2. The three co-adjacent hexes can be in any arrangement, so long as they remain co-adjacent. Purple hexes are a huge creature, a Burst 1, or a Blast 3. Simply select a center hex and count outward as appropriate. The Orange hexes are where it starts to get more complicated. This is a gargantuan creature or a (theoretical) blast 4. Technically speaking, this area is defined as one where no two hexes in the area are more than 4 apart, inclusively. However, when selecting hexes in the middle of the game, it would be easier just to select your middle 3 hexes, and then include everything adjacent to that area. Green is another easy one. It's a blast 5 or a burst 2. Again, just pick a middle hex and count outward. Blue represents a (theoretical) blast 6. It can be easily reproduced using the same area as the orange area, plus all adjacent hexes. Again, the technical definition of this area is that no two hexes are greater than 6 spaces apart, inclusively. Red is a blast 7 or burst 3, and is easily determined by selecting a middle hex and counting outward. |

I'd go simpler than Novacat's blasts; just have a blast radiate outward from either 2 or 3 hexsides of the creature creating it, out to the blast distance. If you're using Heroscape hexes, I might just put large creatures in one hex; they'll probably fit. |
