| #1Sailing_Pirate_RyanJul 10, 2008 17:48:51 | Note: I posted this in the Equipment forum, but I figured that the readers here would be interested in it, too. In order to create some additional design space for my game, I have distinguished the three "tiers" of armor as separate from the suggested names/origins in the PHB. The level 1 standard armors are "apprentice" grade, the enhanced level 2 armors (i.e., wrymscale, feyleather) are "journeyman" grade, and the ultimate level 3 armors (i.e., godplate, elderhide) are "masterwork" grade. Thus, "journeyscale" would mean any level 2 scale mail armor, whether it is made from wyrmscale, elderscale, adamantine, mithral, or even bronzewood. It doesn't need to be forged according to particular techniques, either (i.e., "masterplate" doesn't need to be designed by Moradin). It will be quite some time before my players actually reach the level where this rule comes into play, but I want to go ahead and throw it out onto the boards to see what kind of reaction it will get. |
