All throughout the boards, hundreds, maybe even thousands, have been waiting for a Hybrid version of the Assassin class to come out, or at least a multiclass feat.

But neither has come. Thus, I take this into my own hands.

Let there be Hybriding and Multiclass!

Hybrid Assassin

People come to the path of the Hybrid Assassin many ways. Perhaps you only recently discovered the path of the Assassin, or by chance, you ceded part of your soul to the Shadowfell, but the shadow magic didn't completely take. Maybe you were affected by a visit to the Shadowfell, and were infused with a bit of its essence by the time you went back home. Either way, you don't have the complete abilities of a regular Assassin. While you both deliver the same attacks, you aren't as in tune with the Shadowfell as a regular assassin is. Thus, you turn to another class to round out your abilities.

(Class Traits to come later, but Class Features are here)

Class Features

Assassin's Shroud(Hybrid): As the class feature in D&D Insider, but you can only invoke your shrouds when hitting the target with an Assassin power or Assassin paragon path power

Hybrid Talent Options:

Shadow Step: As Class feature in D&D Insider.

Guild Training(Hybrid): As Class Feature in D&D insider, but only can be used with assassin powers and assassin paragon path powers.

Shadow Form(Hybrid): As class feature in D&D Insider.

Disciple of ShadowFell(Multiclass Assassin)

Prerequisites: Dex or Con 13

Benefit: You gain the Assassin's Guild Training class feature, but you must choose only one option, and you may only use it once per encounter. In addition, you may use shadow form once per day, but you can not sustain it.

Actually, a multiclass assassin feat does exist. Its both in the compedium, and the character builder.

Alright, then. Simply regard the multiclass feat as just a multiclass feat.

So, what do you all think of the Hybrid?

It looks ok, except for your hybrid talent options. Those look underpowered. The existing hybrid talent options give you the ability wholesale, not some limited version of the ability. For example, a hybrid talent version of the nightstalker or bleak disciple build should give you that power wholesale, but perhaps only when you use your assassin attack powers. Likewise, the hybrid talent version of the shadow form power should just give you shadow form period.

Thanks for the commentary. Still, on the shadow form class feature, I can't just give it to them period. While at first glance it may not look like much, it's actually very useful.

The guild training features should be the same as written, except they only apply with assassin powers and assassin paragon path powers. That's the general form that the rest of the hybrid classes use.

I think you can leave shadow form as written in DDI.

Okay, updated. More opinions?
