I am thinking about adding this feat to my game. Is it to powerful due to the fact assassin's can have four Shrouds up at one time?

Herioc Tier
Prerequisite: Asassin, Assassin's Shroud class feature
Benefit: The extra damage dice from your Assassin's Shroud class feature increase from d6s to d8s.

Well, if you think the shroud mechanic is fine as-is then increasing the average damage by 1 is probably fine too.  The vast majority of shroud-invokage will be about 1 die worth per round anyway so it hardly blows the damage curve out of the water.

Plus it's easier to bump striker damage without it seeming wonky, especially when you do it in small increments like this.

Not sure why it's not a feat in the game already, seeing as how rangers and rogues have feat that makes their extra dmg d8's instead of d6's

Pretty sure warlocks do too.

It is not that powerful, but you should be aware that shroud damage is possible more often than other bonus damage.

If you invoke about 10  shrouds over 5 rounds +1 damage is more powerfull than if a ranger could use his hunters quarry 5 times.

True but setting up 10 shrouds over 5 rounds is harder than using quarry 5 times.

Ranger gets the low bonus damage in part because it's one of the easier ones to set up.

I actually thought this was already there, to the point of being slightly confused as to why a character wasn't taking it.

As for comparison to quarry, a ranger switching between bow and sword could probably get near 1 quarry dice per round from the start of the encounter (with some misses), the assassin can only set 1 shroud per round (unless I'm mising something), so will do a similar amount of damage through the encounter (some lost due to misses or enemies dieing with unspent shrouds).

The one place this could be a problem is the potential for 3d8 damage on a miss, which is a hefty chunk of damage at low levels, but this is just a magnification of what happens currently anyway.

Interaction with Brutal Shroud (reroll ones) shouldn't be too terrible, since while the potential gain is greater, the chance of getting the reroll is less (it increases the average damage to 5 rather than 4 (BS on d6), still effectively upping the damage by 1 per round)

Posted up the maths a while ago in character op. It's the post at the bottom of the page.
