Is it impossible to use Begone Now with a Second Wind? Or does Begone Now spend the healing surge for you?

Could you give an example of how it's supposed to be used?

Well, I was wanting to make it like a combination of Comeback Strike and Lion's Roar.

Unlike Lion's Roar, it only affects the target you attacked, and doesn't have the mass fear.

The idea behind the attack, was like, in movies when the hero is all beat up and stuff, and suddenly gets some wierd burst of energyy and totally wtfpwnz the bad guy.

These look really great, they're well made. I'd call them just a hair overpowered, except that the requirements are so specific, and Elf and Eladrin are not optimal races for the Defender role.

All of the Sentinel powers have DEX as a to-hit stat, though, which is a problem. What Paladin will be accurate with these powers? How many Fighter builds can afford to keep DEX on par with STR? The alternative is that multi-classing into the Defender role would fulfill the prereq, but then it's just a gussied up Ranger PP.

Minor note on Sentinel Marking, Fighters can already mark at range with bows or javelins, (they don't even need to hit to mark) and Paladins already mark at range 5. The +1 to marked targets is absolutely amazing already, so you could probably scrap the ranged bit as moot.

Well, the Sword of the White Towers 16th level power is no more game affecting than dirty fighting for the pit fighter. Making heavyblades high crit, compensates for the 1 attack they miss over 20 rolls compared to a human or dragon born defender.

Well, I think anything that is flavored Elf will taste a bit Rangery, considering that the elf is optimized to the ranged ranger. Also, your ROLE is determined by your initial class. Multiclassing only gives you the class not the role, so your role is chosen at level 1.

As for could a paladin have DEX, the answer is yes. You could be either charisma focused, and take advantage of the fact you're an elf and keep your DEX high just to be this PP, or go avenging and do something similiar by focusing on STR and DEX (CHA is not required for 4e paladins).

And blade / spear fighters can afford the DEX=STR thing. Sure, CON helps, but DEX applies to their feat choices (and if you use a scimitar, anytime you miss you do damage).

Minor note on Sentinel Marking, Fighters can already mark at range with bows or javelins, (they don't even need to hit to mark) and Paladins already mark at range 5. The +1 to marked targets is absolutely amazing already, so you could probably scrap the ranged bit as moot.

Duely noted, and fixed :P

I do have a human PP I'm working on, but these were honestly easier to conceptualize.

The human one I am working on is based on chess, so its taking a while to balance.

I really, really, really dislike racial classes, especially ones like these that make absolutely NO sense for being racially based. If you had a race that was inherantly totally unlike the others in terms of having access to supernatural sources that most races would not (Tiefling or Dragonborn MIGHT work), then it makes sense.

But there is no reason for either of the ones you have posted here to be racially based. They are WAY too overspecific.

Your Sentinel class can be a Sentinel of anything-- a mountain sentinel, a fortress sentinel, a snow sentinel, etc. More over, not only do none of its abilities or powers have anything to do with the forest, none of them are tied to being an elf! There is no reason I can see why one can't have a Goblin, Gnoll, Kobold, etc. have this same class and that's not even accounting for the fact that any ranger should probably have access to it.

The Sword of White Tower should be accessible by any high-dex defender who uses heavy blade. Nothing in the power section calls upon or refers to anything that has to be Eldarin only.

It is good you are making Paragon paths and all and your powers look good at first glance, but don't make them so ridiculously specific that only only one character build at all can access them. By doing so you are only meaninglessly limiting their usefulness.

Tieflings don't have a 'supernatural' power source attached to them...Infernal Wrath is just them being really angry. Where as Eladrin's can freakin' teleport...if thats not being racially attached to some supernatural power, I don't know what is.

But there is no reason for either of the ones you have posted here to be racially based. They are WAY too overspecific.

Both of these Paragon Paths were written some time after the Dragon Magazine articles for the Warforged and the Eladrin, using the Racial Paragon Paths in both articles as a template to follow. The Racial PP in the Eladrin article is even MORE restrictive than mine, being available to only 1 race and 1 class. Were as mine allow at least ANY defender.

Last I checked, if you're a "sentinel" of anything, you're going to be similiar to the "sentinel" of something else. The paragon path is based on the idea of a mobile defender, and the MOST MOBILE standard PC is the Elf. It makes them even more mobile with Sentinel Action, and it attempts to lock any flanking attempts with Sentinel Vigilence. Also, I made the powers viable for somewhere OTHER than a forest. Would it not such for your party's defender to not be able to do a thing because a tree's not nearby? Also note, that Elves have the highest perception, something this PP benefits from greatly.

The Sword of White Tower should be accessible by any high-dex defender who uses heavy blade. Nothing in the power section calls upon or refers to anything that has to be Eldarin only.

Sword of the White Tower is based on the Swordmasters of Hoeth, which pretty much equals the most high-elf/eladrin martial thing ever. The reason its an eladrin, and not the other races can be said for two reasons: 1) the white tower, from a fluff perspective, is eladrin/high-elf only, 2) who else has the time to sit there and figure out how to use dexterity to do damage with a greatsword?

It is good you are making Paragon paths and all and your powers look good at first glance, but don't make them so ridiculously specific that only only one character build at all can access them. By doing so you are only meaninglessly limiting their usefulness.

And the ranger ones are not?

The only way to get a ranger paragon path is to start out as a ranger, otherwise you don't have the fighting style class feature which is required for the PP (Same goes for the lock, though to a lesser extent)
