| #1hellzonMar 07, 2009 15:46:47 | So, somehow I ended up at the Wikipedia article for the demon Bael, and a thing with spider-legs and three heads has to be statted up. So I made my first original writeup ever: Bael Level 27 Solo Soldier (Leader) Huge Immortal Magical Beast (demon, aquatic) XP 55 000 Initiative +23 Senses Perception +21 HP 1250; Bloodied 625 AC 45; Fortitude 41, Reflex 39, Will 39 Resist 30 fire, 15 poison Saving Throws +5 Speed 6, climb 6 Action Points 2 M Terrible Bite (Standard; at-will) Reach 2; +32 vs Armor Class; 4d6+9 damage. m Opportunity Bite (Immediate Interrupt; at-will) Trigger: An enemy within reach 2 makes an attack that does not include Bael; Bael makes a Terrible Bite attack on the triggering enemy. r Tongue Pull (Minor; at-will) Range 10; +31 vs Reflex; The target is pulled 10 squares and is grabbed until escape or until Bael uses this power again. c Teach Invisibility (Minor; encounter) ♦ Illusion One ally within close burst 10; The target turns invisible until the end of it's next turn. Change Shape (Minor; at-will) ♦ Polymorph Bael can turn into a Tiny housecat, a Tiny toad or any Small, Medium or Large humanoid. He loses all powers but Change Shape and Teach Invisibility in these forms. He retains all other statistics (including his climb speed). Alignment Chaotic Evil Languages Common, Supernal, Skills Diplomacy +27, Insight +26, Stealth +26 Str 26 (+21) Dex 26 (+21) Wis 26 (+21) Con 26 (+21) Int 26 (+21) Cha 29 (+22) The toad head and cat head led me straight to his Modus Operandi - pulling PC:s close with the tongue and keeping them occupied. Opportunity Bite and reach 2 makes him moderately sticky. Teach Invisibility is there because his write up in the Dictionnaire Infernal had it, and making an ally invisible is a nice thing for him to have available if he's not providing flanking one round. Change Shape is mostly flavour, but the DI had that too. I picture him as a demonic version of Beleth, sometimes reasonable but still a demon that will change into his monstrous form when angered (he'd use the "harmless" forms when negotiating with foolish mortals). Aquatic is there because I figured a guy who is 1/3 toad would be. Comments? Would this be a decent challenge for appropriately leveled PC:s? I'm considering Threatening Reach, would that be too much? |
