  • Ok I am working on a game that includes a TON of units and instead of dumping piles of minis out and rolling a zillion times I figured I would group the enimies into battle units and then just make the one attack for each battle unit. this would get the feal of army combat also.

         So let me know what you think also let me know ways you gusy handle huge combat,

    Extra note the battles
    Minions = standard unit
    Standard = sgt's
    Elite = low ranked officers
    Solo = high ranked officer/leader/bosses

    so most of the units will be minions with a standard leading each group

    Ok heres my idea

    Battle unit
    Size = size of individual unit x number of unit -1 (5 medium size monsters = 1 large battle unit)
    HP = totle of all units devided by 2 (battle unit disperses and fleees once half of it is destroyed)
    xp = totle xp of all contained monster devided by 3 (do less damage on average and flees when
             half of the unit is killed hp
    Defenses = averge defence of all units +2 (the units aid each other in defence)
    Attacks =

  • Malee- All malee attacks become close burst 1

  • Ranged- targets 1 aditional unit per member in the unit -1

  • Blast - becomes close burst = to blast range (blast 3 becomes close burst 3)

  • Burst - Increases burst size by 1 per 2 members of the battle unit

  • other forms of attack ?? can't think of anything thats not covered

Movement, auras, perception and other such things remain unaltered

So what do you guys think? sugestions? problems with the idea?
what are other ways you guys handle mass combat situations without a TON of rolls

This sounds like you are trying to create a template? You might want to put this in template format, it might work nicely actually, but it's hard to follow right now.
