Hi guys!  I'd love to hear your comments and thought of a few powers I wrote up today for hte Beast Mastery Ranger.  I love the concept of the class, but as many have stated in the past, the mechanics leave something to be desired.  So here's a few ideas I had to possibly change that.  This is also the first time I've made an attempt at creating 4e powers.

Did you mean to make that encounter power a level 1 encounter power? Because it is laughably and horribly broken if it is. Prone and daze save ends at level 1 every encounter? Sign me up. The at-wills look nice though. The main problem with the beast master ranger is that the beasts scale horribly, and lose out on a ton of accuracy more than anything.

Ok, so I'll at the very least remove the dazed portion of that, and possibly upping the damage a little bit and turning it into a daily.

I was looking at taking the companion basics from the Sentinel to make a stab at correcting the scaling issue, and also allowing various bits of magical items to be worn, within reason.  Collars, bracers, tail rings, even earrings or other piercings.

My simplest solution to the whole Beast Mastery issue would be to have the best deal extra damage equal to half their level, and their melee basic attack dealing an additional dice of damage at level 21.  That way, a Wolf would be dealing 2d8+21 damage per melee basic attack by level 30 (although this might result in *too much* damage increase once you take the Quick Beast Command feat, so that might still be up for deliberation).

My reason: well, the Beast Companion is already halfway to being a Character Companion anyway, so might as well have most of the Character Companion rules apply to it as well.  And since it's partially a Striker feature anyway, I wouldn't mind the ability to add as much as 10 points of damage by epic tier from placing 8 points in both primary and secondary beast stats on top of the 15 damage the beast would get from half level at level 30.

If accuracy is an issue -- for me it seems only the bear has that problem -- then simply raise their accuracy by 2 points, treating their "natural" weapons as if they had a proficiency of +2 (reflecting the character companions' attack formula, which is 4 + level + proficiency).

An alternative would simply to add this line: "In addition, your beast companion gains an enhancement bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls equal to the weapon you wield in your main hand."  That way, it becomes significantly more accurate, albeit not as damage-dealing as with the above proposal.

As for your at-wills, having a Standard Action power that works as if it was an immediate reaction seems a bit... odd.  Either that, or you need to remove that Trigger portion.
