| #1bamms34Jan 30, 2011 22:46:00 | I play a beastmaster, and I my DM and I have tried a number of ways to get the beast more involved in combat encounters. Understanding that the ranger class already has multi-attacking powers, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that the BM shouldn't be able to take advantage of this. Taking inspiration from the Skirmishing Warlord's power suite, I want to playtest the following At-Will powers: Synchronized Strike (Modified from the Ranger Level 1 Encounter Power) Target: One Creature Range: Melee Weapon (Beast 1) Attack: Beast's Attack Bonus v. AC Hit: 1(B) + Beast Str or Dex Mod Damage Effect: You make a secondary attack against the target Secondary Attack: Strength v. AC Hit: 1(W) Damage Increase to 2(B) and 2(W) Damage at 21st Level Fetch (Modified from the Warlord Level 1 Encounter Power Race the Arrow) Prerequisite: You must be wielding a thrown weapon Target: One Creature Range: Ranged Weapon Attack: Strength v. AC Hit: 1(W) Damage Effect: Your Beast companion charges the target or makes a MBA against the target. Increase to 2(W) damage at 21st Level Any suggestions? |

Thanks, and point taken. Problem I had was the Beast doesn't benefit from magic items, so adding the modifier damage was to help it scale at higher levels. |

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing... But full bonus does get a bit to much. I think the second one can be workable, throwing weapons doesn't cause that much damage and the beast is usually less impressive than the character's attacks. On the first one how about this: Start with the Ranger's attack ( 1(W) damage ), then the beast's attack ( 1(B) damage ). If both hit, then let the beast add STR/DEX to the damage. That lets it scale to some degree, without (I think) getting out of hand. |

Just take a Dwarven Thrower Ex. Axe, and its a scary site. I thought to balance that power, I would make it like Throw and Stab, where you had to be weilding both a thrown and a melee. |
