It is so large it requires at least a 15 strength to even use, and at least a 17 strength to use proficiently. Proficient: +2 Damage: 1d10/1d10/1d10 Range: 15/30 Price: 120 gp. Weight: 25 lbs. Group: Crossbow Properties: Load Standard, High Crit Special: Can be fired at one or multiple targets. If fired at one target, roll for each bolt individually. If firing at multiple targets, a minor action is required to adjust the mechanism, and each attack role after the first take a cumulative -2. Another special: If more than one bolt from this weapon strikes a single target, the target is pushed back one square. I invented this weapon to make a Hobgoblin Warchief that my players will be encountering next session even more intimidating. He'll be standing behind his troops, next the the WarCaster, trying to pick off PCs with it. I'm not sure if it's magic or just a big-ass, highly-specialized masterwork crossbow. Should I let the players keep it if they win? |

If you want him to attack multiple people then you can just give him an attack that does so.. Probably with a recharge of 4/5/6 depending on how often you want him to do it. As for the weapon itself, there's a weapon similar (i.e. the pushback property) that the Orcs have here: http://www.wizards.com/files/157_BordrinsWatch.pdf The damage is 1d12 and it pushes the target back 1 square on a hit. Also, in the new Adventurer's Vault there's a magical item property that you can give to a bow to make arrows knock them back. So, if we're thinking a Superior Weapon.. I would say. Bellybow Proficiency: +2 Damage: 1d12 Range: 20/40 Load: Move Special: Bolts fired from this weapon also push the target back 1 square (As a regular property, it may be unbalancing) So you can just house-rule that you can apply "Forceful Weapon" from the Adventurer's Vault on it. |
