Greetings all, hope this helter skelter world finds you well and earning good xp

Anyway, i run a steampunk style campaign, ironclads zeppelins and all. I am looking for an opinion on how best to convert fire arms (ie Black Powder weapons) into a basic attack

1. Should i just leave the weapon with a stat line same as all others?

2. Should i give the basic attack rolls of Black Powder weapons Reflex as their target score, representing ignoring Armour?

3. Should i just leave it to my Class, the Gun Drake, to make the vs. Reflex attack as one of the At-Wills?

I am making a set of Teknologica Creations, similiar in mechanical application to rituals ie costs and categories. Within this category it would be easy enough to have basic blackpowder weapons providing encounter abilities and at-wills. An example could be a shotgun type of weapon with an encounter power to knock prone a single target with multiple damage and at will similiar to a wizards thunderwave

So thanks for any thoughts, they are appreciated, may your dice rolls 20s!

I'd say 1 and 2. Just rename the crossbows as you see fit and make their basic attacks target reflex instead.

Then just stat out some special firearms as magic item equivalents. Note that Rogues will likely benefit most from this since they would be able to use all their powers with firearms.

Thanks for the reply! Yep, they definitely would, as would rangers.

I think i have to agree, vs. Reflex just seems to make sense...ta

Actually, there is a thread up in fundamentals (equipment) that suggests making them superior weapons. +2 to hit, brutal 2 (1&2 rerolled).
