So I have a homebrew world, its similar in Magic lvls to Eberron, and has a similar MagiTech feel.
As such the Goblins (in this world they create most advanced tech, and are you most common tinkerers and such) have discovered/created guns...

So I have a Globin Artificer who would like to use guns as his ranged weapon and I was going to just reflavor a shortbow for simplicity sake but I thought I might ask if anyone has done this before or has any ideas for a very easy clean solution...

The character concept, which my gaming group thinks is more important then game balance and mechanics, is an artificer who is enchanting his ammo, he is also an alchemist and was asking about some sort of gun alchemist item combo...

Any ideas are welcome, but keep in mind we are not really into homebrewing numbers and such so simple simple simple!

I made these, which should very much resemble actual flint lock weapons:

They are, however, entirely useless if you are expecting to be shooting things all the time. For something that you can keep firing, I really would suggest you just copy an existing weapon.

Thanks Pluisjen, great artical, and I had built in the goblins had nearly mastered them, so Ill be using your rules for any non goblins who use them, they are powerful and feel rare, like like the cover rules!

For the goblins they built the guns to be easier for their hands and they know the tricks, so in the case of him using them all the time, am I right to be using the short bow stats or is there a better weapon of there for me to use?

Basically depends on flavor. The shortbow is fairly weak as far as ranged weapons go, you might want to go with something bigger (Superior Crossbow?) if these are supposed to be rare and powerful weapons.

Maybe even throw in a houseruled Feat that lets (only) Goblins use these boomsticks with Superior Crossbow stats. It's still a balanced weapon, even if Goblins normally can't use one. You'll show how powerful these things are (compared to a regular goblin with a ranged weapon these things are monstrous) without unbalancing the other players.
