| #1funkachick0nNov 10, 2008 17:37:50 | Please tell me if this is balanced You cut your cut your fingers, and then use the blood to draw fearsome designs on yourself. as you progress in power the desighns get both longer and more complicated Bloodpaint:feat (Minor action) at 1st level you can deal up to 5 points of ongoing damage (save maintains) and in return gain +5 to damage and attack roles as long as the damage lasts. Increase to by 5 points every 5 levels I.E. 10 ongoing damage in return for +5 to damage and attack roles. Bloodpaint [Heroic Feat] Prerequisite: 18 Constitution Benefit: You may exchange a level 3 utility power for the Bloodpaint utility power. |
| #2wyld_mutationNov 10, 2008 17:53:09 | What is it? Item? Feat? Class Feature? It really depends. Taking continuous damage with no way to end it isn't very good though. I'd say (save maintains) if it were me and make it a minor action. That's me. |
| #3funkachick0nNov 10, 2008 18:29:23 | It's a feat. Also thanks for the suggestions this is my first time making anything |
| #4wyld_mutationNov 10, 2008 19:13:15 | Hmmm... Make it a "Power Swap" feat. Similar to the racial feats for Warforged. So: Bloodpaint [Heroic Feat] Prerequisite: 18 Constitution Benefit: You may exchange a level 3 utility power for the Bloodpaint utility power. |
| #5funkachick0nNov 11, 2008 18:10:51 | Great! thanks for the help. Also how did you make that format so it looks the same as in the books? |
| #6wyld_mutationNov 11, 2008 18:43:27 | [noparse] |
| #7fragsieNov 11, 2008 19:29:16 | Whats the flavour behind this feat? Mechanically its appealing to almost any character, but how would it fit into a characters backround? for example; if it's like a savage ritual involving smearing yourself with your own blood, then my righteous paladin of selune wouldn't be interested, but my devious loviatoran cleric would be! |

Really it all depends on how you want to use it. It could be war paint that a raging barbarian makes out of his own blood, imspiring him to a frenzy. or it could give could be used by someone particularly fearsome fighter giving him the bonus because he is imspiring himself while terrifying his enemies. Generaly though it will not be a ritual as your supposed to use it in battle. |
| #9funkachick0nNov 12, 2008 15:07:04 | Here's some more examples Wizard: magical runes that are powered by his magical imbued blood Warlock: The marking on his flesh open up a portal through which whoever he made a pact with gives him power in return for his life Cleric: Words in in celestial (i think thats what it's called) that shines with purity. you sacrifice your very lifeforce in devotion to your g-d |
| #10funkachick0nNov 12, 2008 16:34:24 | I'm thinking of adding additional bloodpaint feats. here's an example |
| #11wyld_mutationNov 12, 2008 19:56:06 | Remember that they should switch out utilities. Or attacks if they require an attack roll. Otherwise you'll change the "balance of power" as it were. |
| #12funkachick0nNov 12, 2008 20:36:45 | i would but i'm not good at deciding what level to switch out |
| #13wyld_mutationNov 12, 2008 21:25:34 | If you want help deciding you can always ask me. I'm OK at eyeballing that kinda stuff. |
| #14funkachick0nNov 13, 2008 15:34:59 | could you? thanks a million:coolcthul http://forums.gleemax.com/images/smilies/coolcthulhu.gif |
| #15wyld_mutationNov 13, 2008 17:46:50 | In order to do it I do need to know the exact effects granted by the powers they give. Also note a very helpful alternative: Giving more choices for what the original Bloodpaint feat does. In the same manner as Channel Divinity. Give me a full description and I'll work on it. Note that the aura you have written there is I think a little too powerful to see play. It basically protects you from all melee attacks for a paltry 1d6 (fixed after first roll) damage a turn. |
| #16funkachick0nNov 13, 2008 20:34:09 | well what i'm trying to do with this one is create an effect that is either similar to the fear effect of 3.x (i don't think theirs one in 4ed) or simulate being scared. |
| #17funkachick0nNov 13, 2008 20:37:50 | blood paint:fear prequisete: bloodpaint minor Action; aura 1 (save maintains) Effect: You take 1d6 ongoing damage and gain a fear aura 1 (save maintains) Special: Increase to 2d6 and fear aura 2 at 21st level. fear aura: will attack on anyone in aura. on a hit target is dazed and imobilized. (requires to seperate saves) or: fear aura: will attack on anyone in aura. on a hit target is dazed and imobilized. (save ends both) or: fear aura: will attack on anyone in aura. on a hit target is imobilized.(save ends) but i want this to be more powerful then the first blood paint feat. |
| #18wyld_mutationNov 13, 2008 20:53:52 | Hmmm... Let me think, and I'll get back to you |
| #19wyld_mutationNov 14, 2008 23:06:17 | OK: Blood Fear [Paragon Tier] Prerequisites: Bloodpaint Benefit: You may exchange an encounter attack power of 13th level or higher with the Blood Fear encounter attack power. |
| #20funkachick0nNov 15, 2008 12:46:27 | I thank you this _____________________________________________________________________________________ much Wyld_mutation |
| #21wyld_mutationNov 15, 2008 13:17:41 | No problem. It might be a BIT good, but houseruled stuff usually is. |
| #22funkachick0nNov 16, 2008 13:48:45 | Well, I've run out of ideas for any more so if anyone wants to post their own ideas i'd be very happy |
