Hello,

In the game I'm running, I'm thinking about having a house rule where the players can equip an arm slot magic item and a non-magic shield, benefiting from both. So, for example, with Iron Armbands of Power and a Heavy Shield, the hero would get +2 to all melee damage rolls, +2 to AC and +2 to Ref defence.

That's strong but probably not too strong. I'm thinking that might other cases where it is too much. Do you think that's a reasonable house rule to have?

I could be wrong, but I'm reasonably sure that's not a houserule, that's just the rule.

Oh yeah? I figured that you couldn't use both normally since they're in the same slot.

The limit is magic items, as in you cannot have both magic arm slot and magic shield equipped at the same time. Magic arm slot and non-magical shield is just fine.

On a side note I do not think that having both, magic arm slot and magic shield at the same time is all that game breaking.

I'm AFB, but IIRC the rule is you can't have two magic items in the same slot.  You can have a magical shield, or magical arm slot and nonmagical shield, but not magic arms slot and magic shield.

Hopefully someone nearer a rulebook can chime in with a more definitive answer, but that's what I remember.

Yeah, you can't have both magical bracers and a magical shield, but if one is nonmagical then it's fine.
