I gave 4th Edition an honest try in playing and running since it came out and just feel it isn't my cup of tea for DMing. I still play 4th Ed.. I just prefer to run something else. My players are 3rd level. This is actually a continuation of stuff I did in 4th Ed. The characters spent levels 1 and 2 in 4th edition, running the ECG adventure and most of the first Scales of War. They are: Fighter 1/ Wizard 2 Elf Paladin of the Silver Flame 3 Human Cleric of the Silver Flame 3 Human Fighter 2 Half Orc Rogue 3 Half Elf The short synopsis is.. they arrive in Flamekeep mainly to deliver something from the previous adventure to a clergyman at the temple. While there they stand audience to a beheading.. a half orc druid accused of heresy and practicing dark rituals at the expense of human lives. The church beheads the druid and one of the clergyman throws a blanketed cover over the body. This triggers attacks of vengeance on Flamekeep and the gateway town beginning with small raids. Eventually the druidic order plants a kind of "doom seed" (name in progress) under Gateway which results in tremors and roots large enough to crumble buildings and ruin whole parts of the city. This is the PCs first task, entering the labrynthine sewers and eradicating the seed. (Giant insect, druids, plant monster encounters ensue). Later on the PCs discover the beheaded half orc was in actuality a changeling. The changeling was placed by on of the church's council. Who, is not necessarily an evil man, but he used questionable means to spark an interest in the decimation of the local druid cult. The man in question is actually being coerced and controlled by a rakshasa of the Lords of Dust (this idea from Keith Baker himself) Just wondering if anyone can throw some proverbial wrenches in the machine or add some more twists off the top of their heads. Mr. Baker also suggested some involvement from Aundair who would have no love lost for either druids or the Silver Flame. Please keep in mind some of my Eberron is not canon. I have made some changes to the game world. The main one (but that is not apparent in this adventure) is the Emerald Claw is a more public force.. think of the Dharra(sp) soldiers from Legend of the Seeker or Sword of Truth series. Thank you for your time! |

Yeah, thanks! I thought about this but haven't been able to come up with a background behind the changelings. I did toy with the idea of someone hiring one of the elf dragon marked houses to knock the PCs off their tracks.. or even attempt to get rid of them altogether. I will be using the waterfall temple picture from another thread as a the climax setting. I just realized also... my fighter, paladin and cleric have pretty decent ACs and I will most likely have to throw in some touch attacks against them. Since my encounters usually use multiple monsters a couple CRs below the APL instead of using up all of my EXP budget on one opponent. |
