Its common name is “Haze” and is the most frightening thing for most people in the world. The largest reason is superstition though not all of these tall tales are founded on lies. Most people tell of tales of someone they knew being taken by the Haze and never being found again. The only thing that effects the Haze is the cycle of the moon and as one grows the other wanes and so in reverse. On nights of the full moon it is even possible to see the stars if you are high enough. Though when no moon does shine you can hardly see several spans ahead. The most peculiar effect people have noticed is the influence the mist has around necrotic powers and creatures. Arcane powers used in the haze seem to draw and increase the mists. While undead creatures are often cloaked in the mists themselves. This has led many studied scholars to believe either one is a product of the other or that the haze is tied to the Shadowfell. |

Of the seasons there is the season of birth, life, age, and death and the people count their age in seasons rather than a year. The furthest written records are said to be a thousand seasons old. From there artifacts and ruins are rumored to be twice that while myths speak of ages long since past. Most people know only of the last generation before them and little else which makes the oldest knowledge on average to be a hundred years old. |

Many people use tools to aid in their daily lives while some of the more advanced lands have zeppelins, cannons, and clockwork. On the converse side magic is prevalent and common to anyone with the will to earn it. Many people rely on at least one magic user to perform either arcane or divine duties while other communities are ruled by the arcane or turn it into another form of business. |

They enter the haze recklessly and do not care above their own survival, replacing former “team members” as quickly as possible. Of course as soon as a problem becomes too large for a community or some other need for an adventurer arises, they are heralded as epic heroes for a while. |

When the first tribes of humanity appeared the fey were intrigued at such strange creature, raising humanity from its barbarism the fey began to coexist with humanity. It was the first cross breeds between man and fey that in turn created the Eladrin. And for some time there was peace and harmony between man and fey. But it was when Elves and Dwarves first appeared that the fey grew fearful, for the two new breeds did not hold the same ties to the magic as did the Eladrin and the fey themselves saw their numbers grow smaller as humans and other races grow. Afraid the fey took up arms against those who the fey called lesser breeds in war. Though outnumbered the fey lords made deals with both dragons and devils for their aid and from the fog of war came the tiefling and dragonborn. The war lasted years and the fey lords came close to winning till tiefling and dragonborn rebelled and joined all the other race against the fey. As an united front they banded together and forced back the fey into utter defeat. In desperation the fey used what magic they had left and sundered their ties to the world, shattering it in the process, by retreating into the Feywild the Fey abandoned their home for dead. |

It is said that no human empire have yet to have ever appeared even now they are least populous race in Gedic. To the west there is the beginnings of the war and feudal warlords as power tries to consolidate to the east a scattered population of settlements too far apart to aid one another or to band together. The season are calm here with all manner of climate but the land itself is tainted with darkness in the hearts of its people. |

When the Castanet family, rich merchant queens who made their wealth trading and pirating, founded the country from their support within exploration. They were able to establish camps that brought back gold from long forgotten ruins. With rumors of wealth rising those camps grew into towns and eventually cities. After a time the gold had dried up but in its place were thriving communities. The Castanet family practically own everything in the islands and take a share weather it is from legal channels or less then reputable sources. They make the laws and require permits for almost everything, enforcing their rules with the aid of their vast wealth and hired mercenaries. Though as of lately there has been tribes of natives who survived the initial pogrom that wiped out many of the native Elvin population to revolt against the civilizations that have settled. As well as a rival fleet of pirates who target Castanet ships specifically. |
