| #1ztranJul 28, 2009 17:44:39 | Hi, I just created a campaign world and wanted to share it with other people. The place I created is called Nema, there is no magic, no supernatural beings except Gods. The deities are all based around a concept that you find in the world also. There are angels as well, but just like the deities, they live far from mortals and are not really included in the campaign ![]() The player characters are regular people or adventurers that live on one of two great continents which are surrounded by an eternal ocean, that literally is eternal in size. The atmosphere of the setting is pretty dark, offcourse low fantasy and in a way very primitive ![]() Players can basically do whatever they want in the world. Outgame, for this I created a large map with all the countries, regions and description of the politics, nature etc of the areas. Also a short history and other things that you find in these lands are included. I used a dm screen covered it on the outside with colored paper and on the inside I've put many tables for most aspects of life and adventuring, incl rules for combining 3.5 and 4 edition It was a lot of work and i didnt playtest it yet but finally after all these years i'm glad i created my ideal campaign setting i can only advice to other dms to do the same, and createthe world you dreamed of ;) |

That said, make sure that when you introduce this world to your players that they want to play in a world with no magic, supernals, ect. I've had players that didn't like a world be cause it lacked something they like. Keep that in mind when you start this world off. Best of luck |
| #4ztranJul 29, 2009 6:05:59 | thanks for the replies i try to compensate this loss of monsters and magic by events and personality types not found on Earth, for example creating truly monstrous villains and even slightly mutated humans so that they aren't all standard **** sapiens and can fill a whole campaign without the player getting bored about magic, there is offcourse "divine intervention" and some character can acquire certain powers which offcourse we in our daily life cannot have ![]() if however a player wants his monsters/mage back i could send their characters back to the realms etc ![]() or kill them, and have them awaken in a campaign i bought a while ago, dungeon world where killed characters get another chance |

| #8ztranAug 07, 2009 15:50:17 | Hi, I want my players to have the possibility to do almost anything, so they don't even have to be adventurers. They can just live their life and things might happen, for example. The adventures will mostly be improvised, but to support this style of play, many d6/d20 tables will help me integrating npcs, adventure hooks, rooms, places, buildings and towns.... I named the world "Nema", thought it sounded alright And for the classes: Well, everything is possible with few adjustments offcourse. For example, a wizard, priest or sorcerer becomes a wise or religious guy, an intellectual or teacher which basically just means all classes remain but magic abiltity is removed or restricted to having special talents, like psychic abilities, but not much better than sensing or predicting for example The only race is offcourse human, they exist in all kind of shapes and colors of skin but basically all a variant of the human race. I'm planning to allow players to choose between 3/3.5 and 4 and mix them in the same session, do they want to have it easy (4), do they want details (3/3.5) |
| #9alexiiAug 07, 2009 17:00:00 | The campaign world can be used for either. But you really shouldn't mix the editions- decide yourself what game you WANT to run and tell your players they have an opportunity to play in it- be it 3.5 or 4E. It sounds like a nice campaign world, but you've removed a lot of choice for the average player. |
| #10ztranAug 07, 2009 17:44:13 | At first it was made for 3/3.5 but since incorporating 4e is basically only other skills-list and two kinds of rolls (imo), and because I use the same xp-system, dc table for both, it shouldnt be too hard to use them both indeed there arent any monsters, humanoids or demihumans to be played but i prefer characters which have emotions and personality instead of only stats, hope that compensates i'm really not that fond of magic in any game, but i love adventure and character development which is why i started the whole thing |
