| #1merdokNov 04, 2008 10:39:26 | I have an Idea for a weapon but im not sure how to implament it. It would probly be a wondrous item or even an artifact not just a magical item because I want it to be unique. More than one of these in the game world would most likely make things to easy, atleast with my first impressions of what it would play like The idea of it is that it is a gun that uses no gunpowder or any kind of conventional means to fire projectiles. Instead, it uses magical power witch it gains through some link with the world around it (something like the warlocks pacts maybe?) to set off the alchemical mixtures contained inside of each cartrage. There would be many formulas for diffrent types of projectile. I would imagine alchemist frost, fire, and acid come to mind imediately but I was also thinking of also being able to fire other special rounds, maybe made of some other material that can eather store or produce the same effect as say a magic missile or eldritch blast. Maybe around that on sucessfull hit it casts flame burst on the creature. ![]() Now I have thought about making it nothing more than a plot device but thats just no fun. If my players come up with some good reasion why they could actually weild the weapon(witch is very posable they confound me almost every play session) I want to know what to tell them. Any ideas on whare to even start with this thing? Thanks Michael |

Mechanically, you're basically talking about a wand with the fluff changed or a magic crossbow with the fluff changed - it doesn't have to be complex, and there's nothing about what you're describing that can't be keyed towards any power level. |
