im thinking of running a dungeon with cat people in (lion cat not **** cat). havnt come up with a name yet. im thinking for some lore / background ir can be something to do with a god punishing a tribe of humans (the land is verry tribe based (or was before a crewel dominating human empire came and killed them most). the other option is have quite a few tribes with different mutilations. i was thinking of using the figures underneth and reaper also do a cheetah type model so i could do a cheetah tribe.

second thing is how to make them work. i was thinking +4 stregnth, +6 dexterity, +2 constitution, +2 wisdom, -4 inteligence and -2 charisma. would this make them too overpowered for a level 5 party?

because of their mutilation they will find it hard to wear armour so i was thinking of limiting them to leather max. (they wont have metal anyway so cant make chain (or dragon hide for that matter) but i might use one for a charicter afterwards. but would this limit them too much? i cant see how it would be possible to modify other armour for them in a way that would still protect them but allow movement. their main advantage is in speed and agility

i also need some nice advantages. jump and balance bonuses, maybe climb. possibly a lower swim? Darkvision to 120ft. speed 50. lower ability to carry things. initiative and reflex bonus.

what other things can i give them? and what kind of level adjustment. i was thinking 2 as they are only a bit tougher than bugbears.

the other thing is they wont have magic realy although they are quite superstitious like most tribes. i.e. no wizards or sorcerers. but i think a cleric would be fine. and dose anyone have a shaman template?

if you read all that thankyou and thanks for any responses

you might soften some features of rakshasa. see my current thread here in home brew. the  deceptive veil wouldn't be for cat people but claw attack would as well as dark vision  for sure.
check out also tiger and dire tiger as well as cat animal companion stats.

good luck.

thanks, forgot about claw attack. im trying to balance it so that they would be incredibly fast and strong, so they can beat most humans fairly easily in hand to hand combat. as well as incredibly good with ranged weapons, using composite bows and stealth to dispatch people quickly.

You appear to be talking about 3.5, so I'll tell you that what you're looking for already exists in Races of the Wild. Catfolk.

oh realy? is that a supliment? we've been playing core only. i will have a look for it

edit: had a little looky online and they look quite nice, deffinatly a nice starting point. but they seem more like domestic cats than big cats. the catpeople im looking for are more like lions, being much bigger and stronger than humans whereas these cats seem smaller and weaker. they are a nice race though and i think i will use a variation of them for cubs or something. cheers

as far as stealth is conerned, that could be a racial bonus [ usually +2    in 4th ed]. for range help dex +2 bonus even helps the stealth out.

Cat Claws
Prerequisite: Cat-Folk [was rakshasa]
Benefit: You possess vicious claws, which you can use as melee weapons with a +2 proficiency bonus and 1d8 damage. For purpose of powers and feats, you can treat your claws as light blades with offhand properties, and you are considered to have a weapon in each hand. You can enchant and disenchant your claws. When you disenchant your claws, they do not turn to dust.
