I want to allow characters to change the energy type of a power at the time they take it. For example my "Wind wizard" from the distant mountains concept doesnt have a lot of thunder and electricity options so i would allow him to for example have a magic missle that does lightning damage instead. He would not be allowed to change it latter so such a change (mostly fluff) wouldnt drasticly change balance, he would be stronger against lightning vunarable creatures but weaker against resistant ones. A necromancer could do nectotic damage...ect,ect In general I think that a more versitile character would be more tactically sound. So i think it works... Am i wrong?/ |

Future books are gonna be chock full of new spells, prayers and exploits anyway, and those new powers are gonna have a variety of effects and damage types that change whatever balance energy types possess right now (if any), so you're just jumping ahead of that. No biggie. If you are at all concerned though, just limit a PC to that one alternate energy type. So that wind and thunder guy can either take a power as-is, or substitute in electricity but no other energy type. |

| #4wyld_mutationJul 18, 2008 10:45:44 | *shrug* That's possible anyway as most classes already have a damage type of each damage type they get at each appropriate level. The question is: What will you do about the thunder keyword feats? You can't let every caster increase every spell they cast by one area. It'd be horrible. |

Well I actually mostly am in favor of it. It reduces the feats for increased damage to 1 for spell caster types, which brings them in line with martial types. |
