I'm preparing a document, primarily for my personal use, secondarily to share with fellow DMs. The list is about generic sites and events that could happen in a city or town of differing size. These events are not in connection, but are general stuff that a DM building a city adventure could pick from. Let me start, and feel free to contribute your ideas, no matter what style of gameplay it suggests.

City Districts and related events
Poor-district

1. Tanner-town
2. Cheap, crappy inns and taverns
  • 1. Cut-throats attack, robbery
  • 2. Men gives mysterious box to PCs then dies

3. Temple of Abandoned Children
4. Storehouses of thieves and thugs
5. Poormen's Rest Cemetary
  • 1. Ghost-house needs excorcising

Aaaand I have just found DragonsWrath's thread about city structures. Oh well, you could still contribute with events, i guess.

Curses, you beat me to it. :D

I do think you mentioned some I skipped over, so time to update the list! ;)

Ah yes.

A feud between rival guilds or industries.

For example, the potters guild may be in a depute with the glassblowers guild over who's jars and glasses are better.

The coal miners guild vs woodcutters guild over selling for fires (was there even a woodcutter's guild? eh, whatever)

Well I think there is no need for two of these thread, so would you bother with updating yours, as it is clearly superior to mine?

Well, honestly I was focusing more on the look and feel of a settlement than the events going on there. That's just how I naturally think of things. I remember all sorts of technical detail from history shows, but the politics and intrigue just doesn't stick.

If you generate some more ideas, I could find somewhere to cram it in my compilation, but I could also link your thread in my thread. It makes more sense for people to cover their own interests rather than try to cram everything into a single thread.

Also, that makes less work for me. :P
