| #1r-y-oJul 28, 2008 13:47:17 | Well, I'm going to be running a (4ed) game with some friends of mine that have never played before, and it'll probably be a long one-shot we can do in a few days before the end of summer. Since my friends around here are all wiseguys and don't take much seriously, I decided that rather than fight that sentiment I'd complement it with a "funny" adventure. Other people can post their own comedic adventures or experiences therein in this thread, but here's my hook: The PCs are all midlevel (running a one-shot with level 1 characters is kinda boring to me, and having more power fits this idea pretty well) Muscular Hero Types. Being Muscular Hero Types, they're currently running through Town City looking for the Mead-Ade Man - a magical construct resembling a giant jug of mead with a face that runs around bursting through walls and shouting "OH YEAH!". The PCs track him to the local Church of the Lawful Good Deity, where he busts through a back wall to reveal - GASP! - an enormous, cavernous chamber lit with mystic runes. Again, being Muscular Hero Types, they can't HELP but to follow the monster through an unknown, unexplored dungeon that has a good chance of killing them all. While inside the dungeon, the focus turns more to inside jokes, but I plan on singling one person out and switching their gender/race every room through contrived traps. Once they get to the final Chamber with Awesome Gear for Everyone, he'll be back to being a male human (or whatever race he originally played) and he will discover a magical Brassiere that is imbued with all kinds of amazing powers, but he can no longer use it. Any suggestions or comments? (I know the Kool-Ade thing is played out, but still, thinking of it in a DnD setting made me chuckle...) Please, post other comedy ideas here! |

If you want to use it go ahead there is a lot of potential. A hear sits down to lunch and is admittedly attacked buy a rater aggressive dwarf who is trying to save the sandwich in a save the princess manner, bonuses points if it’s a paladin of the ham and cheese on rye. I was designing them as a kind of a running gag random event. |

This is pretty much what I'm going for - jokes that can be used as either quick interjections into a campaign or fleshed out into a long running gag are perfect. |

An intelligent pole that talks to the party. Traps that consist of poles. A giant fish that wields a pole. A noble that is obscesed with poles. Poles as treasure. |

At some point, the drunken Kobold sorcerer teleports over the character's head, and then pol-vaults over the entire party, and teleports away again just before hitting the ground. |

Rather Freudian, don't you think? :D |
