| #1JamazingMar 01, 2011 8:06:15 | LlamasNotsheep gets full credit for this idea, I just wanted to start it off. This is a content challenge; as such, you will be posting your personal ideas. If this worries you and you think that someone will steal it, as much as I respect you, please do not post it here. This post is ONLY for people who are interested in starting a new trend, the Content Challenge! Weeks: Post your ideas in until March 13th; that is the deadline. Once March 13th hits, you will have until the 20th to finalize your ideas. The final week of March will be a voting period, just like last time. The prize: I think that offering a new set of dice is always a good choice, but I can also offer a deluxe DM screen as a choice. (If anyone has any different ideas on prizes that are reasonable, please post them. I was thinking about doing an E-Rules book, but I know a lot of people already have that, so I'm trying to give away things that will still interest people.) This months challenge: There are a lot of "Forgotten" classes. One of my personal of these is the runepriest. I really enjoy the idea of him granting resistances rather than just healing up his allies after they get rocked to the face. It just seems to me that if someone was to say, "I can either stop a bullet from hitting you, or I can stop your bleeding really well!" I'd go for the first one everytime. My only problem is a lacking of choices for this class. It doesn't have any feats that help it heal, that define whether it is better to be in one Rune "Stance" or another. So my challenge is this: Create me support for this class. It can mimick other classes support, (Feats like Improved Healing Word, for example.) But I'd love to see some class specific ones as well, such as "Improved Rune of Protection - Allies gain +3 to the amount of resistance offered by your aura. If this is taken, you may not take Improved Rune of Destruction unless you retrain it for this feat." Or "Improved Rune of Destruction - Grants an additional untyped +2 bonus to damage for allies in your aura. You may not take Improved Rune of Protection unless you retrain this feat." The rules: The options must be presented in another post. This is so that this post doesn't get cluttered with comments of what changes should be made to a class to make it more effective, or just rudeness about how someone doesn't like a class. Posts in this thread should specifically be "My class is _______: Here is the link. " What must be in my thread?: A very good question indeed. ![]() This thread must be laid out like this: At will powers- List them here. Encounter Powers- List them here Dailies- You get the point Feats- Here Any Runepriest Specific Items- Here Any Misc. that I might have forgotten to mention - Here Brief overview of concept: Put any combination synergy you think would be required for your line up to work here. This will give us a bit of an idea of what you are going for in your post. This isn't required, but if you have something off the wall, it is prefered. Other information: Please, be respectful of other peoples ideas. As the internet put it, "It's someones fetish. No exceptions." Please, limit the posts on this thread. I want this to be more about just collecting all the ideas in one place, not about "I hope jonny wins!" Please post such things in their actual post; I'm sure they'd love the encouragement! Understand that sometimes, people have similar thoughts. Just because you are the first person to ever think of a class based on candy and love in your group doesn't mean someone else one hasn't either. Please respect that you can collaborate on an idea, and I'm sure most people would be ok with (Constructive) criticism. To reiterate this one more time, post in the Homebrew forum your new class idea. You can title it anything you'd like, but if you want more views, label it with (Mar. CC) at the end. This will let people know that you entered this idea in the challenge, and will help bring popularity to the idea! Lastly, please understand that even though you may win this, it doesn't mean that Wizards will pick up your idea overnight and suddenly your idea is made. Have fun! |
| #2thespaceinvaderMar 01, 2011 8:51:07 | How would you feel about adding entirely new basic rune states to the Runepriest? I think there's perhaps more mileage in that than in new powers. Feats, though, I'm definitely on board with - the Rune feats are the single oddest part of the Runepriest's class design, because most builds of any sort require so many maths patches that you just can't fit enough Rune feats in to make them worthwhile... I hope something will spring to mind - watch this space. |

Feats, though, I'm definitely on board with - the Rune feats are the single oddest part of the Runepriest's class design, because most builds of any sort require so many maths patches that you just can't fit enough Rune feats in to make them worthwhile... The thing is that I want to avoid creating new "Build" options. I would rather see another at will based off of Con or Wis rather than someone saying "All Runepriests need is a Cha spell and they will be ready!" If someone comes up with a new build option, I'd also be curious on how it would tie in. As of now, wisdom is more of a temp healing take, creating a shield before they get hurt. In their destruction, they make the target easier to hit. Con, on the other hand, lowers the damage before it hits, and then makes the target take extra damage. Both do the same basic thing: just in a different way. I wouldn't want someone to come along and say, "Ya know what this class is missing? Jinx Shot!" I think that the basic ideas are laid out; someone just needs to further the way they are offered. I'm a bit afraid of this content challenge, once again I am looking for something a lot of people won't just jump in with. But I also want this to be things that people don't always think about. I don't want to make one that says "Create a custom striker" because that's so broad, and there would be a thousand posts of peoples work that dates back to the U.S.S.R. I want this to be something that, if the Wizards picked up, wouldn't be just a grab bag of "Who had the most time to prepare an idea" but rather a way for Wizards to have some extra help when it comes to balancing out certain classes (Like this challenge) generating new, unthought of ideas (like the last one) Or just doing a grab, like what I'm trying to avoid for the first few, and seeing what they can get. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I hate people who already solved the problems I'm listing a while back. I'm just saying I want the challenge to be fair. In the last one, everyones write up was the same. Each persons tank looked like they had copied it straight out of a book, it was that well written. I just don't want that overshadowing someone who may have posted, but decided not to because they feel that they wouldn't be able to match that. |
