(Forgive me if this is in the wrong section of the forums)

I have recently been offered to DM on Game, however I learned that the adventure must be a one shot adventure. Stuck and unable to think of an orginal one shot, I decided to run the Tomb of Horrors(Insert creepy music in the background). So I have a couple of questions about the tomb of horrors, What lvl would the Tomb of Horrors be appropriate, it to be some where around paragon. Secondarily how would one go about converting 3.5 DCs, monsters I can do, Traps yes, however as a 4e DM, I haven't have the faintest idea what the search DCs would be and how to convert them. Also a good friend of mine advised me that The Tomb of Horrors wouldn't be the best for a pick up game with a group of strangers, Please advise me
(also there doesn't happen to have a 4e Tomb of Horrors already converted is there there?

I've been working on this myself. I decided to run the adventure at lvl 11, because I figured my players would have more fun making Paragon characters, and also because that seems roughly a good spot to put things (the 3.5 version is designed for lvl 9 PCs, so that's not too far off). Basically, what I did was convert anything that required a saving throw into an attack against that save, and made the save DC minus ten the attack bonus (so those pit traps at the beginning, which are a 14 DC Reflex save, I made into +4 VS Ref attacks). Since there really isn't any good way I've found to model Con Drain in 4e, I made the pit traps do 1d6 falling dmg if you fail the initial ref attack, and additional 2d4 piercing if the spikes hit, and a further 2d6 if the poison hits. If you really want to turn the screws, you could have the poison eat a healing surge on hit; I think I probably should have done that.

A lot of the monsters have 4e equivalents; for the Bone Golem I just used the Flesh Golem stats from the MM and gave it Haste ability from the ToH module; the four armed Gargoyle was just the regular 4e gargoyle, with the ability to make two attacks per turn (and if both attacks hit the same person, it gets the free Rend attack). The Open Grave sourcebook actually contains rules for Acererak himself. The only monster I didn't find a ready substitute for was the Juggernaut.
