This is an option I use because I hate the entire alignment concept.  There are more shades of gray between good an evil than have ever been portrayed, so I like this point-based approach.  Also, it introduces the idea of magic as a corrupting influence, and limits a players willingness to employ otherwise radically overpowered items.

You get a Corruption point when you use Black Magic (defined by GM, usually rituals that create zombies and so on) do particularly evil things, or use certain artifacts.

When you have ten corruption points, you are in mortal danger of a freakish death/game over by magic.

The Blade of Camilla
Corrupting Artifact
Pactblade +6
Daily: When you use the Blade to kill an opponent with a soul by stabbing it's heart, you charge the Blade with that soul, which can be destroyed to restore the use of one daily power to you.  The Blade can only hold one captured soul at a time.  This grants one corruption point.
If you use this power when you have 10 corruption points, the soul of Camilla, the Vampire Queen, possesses your body ina fiery eruption from hell and destroys your soul and form forever, transforming you into a manifestation of her as she was in unlife.

The Ring of The Djinni Prince
Corrupting Artifact
Ring of Protection +4
Daily: You summon a level 22 Djinni Stormblade who fights on your behalf until the end of the encounter or serves you for up to one hour.  He is the Prince Ali of the Djinni kingdoms.  When you put on this ring, you became his betrothed, and you cannot take it off by any mortal means.   If you use this power when you have 10 or more corruption points, at the end of combat the Djinni whisks you off to a honeymoon in the Djinni caliphate, and you are never seen again.

Ariel the Healer
Pure Angel of Valor
Ariel has the power to ressurect any that are brought before her.  She restores to life only those who are pure of heart, having fewer than 4 corruption points.

Arran the Damned
Vile Devil Tutor
Arran teaches rituals to those who summon him.  Summoning Arran is a level 8 ritual requiring 200gp in arcane components and inflicting one corruption point.  Arran only knows arcane rituals and all of his rituals are vile Black Magic, requiring blood sacrifice.  He only teaches the dark arts to truly dark hearts with 6 or more corruption points.
