Hey my group was looking at a couple of feat ideas and wanted to get some opinions.

Hideous Blow - warlock feat, allows you to use your eldritch blast as a or in place of a melee basic attack. It means if you are in melee you can safely use your eldritch blast ability, and use it with a charge or oppurtunity attack.

Sacred Fist - cleric feat, you can use your sacred flame ability as a or in place of a melee basic attack. Same concept, different class.

Not sure how balanced these would be or if you just made it so they could be used in melee safely but not as a melee basic would be more balanced.

They look fairly balanced to me, given that it takes up a feat and that there's a racial feat for shadar-kai warlocks which enables them to translate any warlock spell into a melee (non-basic) attack. Keep them both as melee basics, this differentiates them from the shadar-kai feat and makes them worthwhile.

john, i'd love to know where that shadar-kai feat comes from, because the only one i know about isn't limited to shadar-kai (despite being in the shadar-kai article of dragon) and only allows eldritch blast* to be used as melee, but does make it count as a melee basic.

*eldritch blast for warlocks, but other classes that get at-will powers that can be used as ranged basic get the same treatment
