I'm currently working up some 4e stats for the gem dragons but have ran into a problem: What type, if any do I give the topaz dragon's breath weapon? In 3.0 MM2, it had a cone of dehydration that resembled a blast of water. And had cold immunity (which brings up the question of what resist I give it too). This makes me inclined to give it a cold breath attack describe it as some sort of super condensation water removal, and give it cold resist, but I'm not really sure this is the best direction. I'll also be looking for some playtesters once I get it all done (plan on using skype and some map tool.). Thoughts and suggestions welcome. |

To keep it's breath unique from the other fire-breathers, have it deal fire damage and the target is dazed and weakened (basically dehydrated) until it saves. Younger dragons would just weaken the target, while the older ones would get the daze effect. Or, you could have it just deal both cold and fire damage with its breath at the same time. Then only other such dragons of that type would resist it, but that's a bit less flavorful. |

I was making this one artillery, so weaken and daze might be a bit much, also the gold dragon already does weaken on its breath weapon. |
