| #1guest2054654845Jul 17, 2011 14:27:38 | So www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/rotatin... is a link to a world that i had built for a previous 3.5 campaign and recently updated it for 4e. Obsidian portal was awesome for helping me put all my ideas down somewhere where other people could look at it. We are currently using this for a rotating dm campaign in 4e. As I put a lot of time and thought into creating the world, I want to keep on tweaking it and perfecting it. My main basis for this world is that anything/everything was possible. I wanted players and dm's to be able to find a place that every creature/race/item/magic/etc... could fit in and have at least something of a history to it. Some of the things in here are recently updated/converted for 4e and haven't been to fleshed out yet. I'm posting this on here because i've read through a lot of the other posts for new worlds and feel that there are some very creative minds here and I could gain a lot from advice you guys have. So please take a peek, and let me know things you like, things you don't like and any suggestions you might have. Thanks! |

It feels like it was written for the players as a reference guide to what they are curently doing/interacting with, not as a reference for potential DMs. That's fine, but it makes it difficult for me to get the big picture. Perhaps you could give an overview of certain things? A. Government/Economy How do people govern their lands? Are they city states? Countries? Villages? If you have the energy, what is the history of each place since the Time of Tears? Rulers/Leaders of Organizations? Important people and organizations? Who hates who? Why? B. Religion What are the religions of this world? What are they the gods of? What do the gods think of each other? What are their goals? Who worships them? Why? How organized are their worshipers? Who are the god's enemies? C. Culture Since everything exists, where does it exist? What are the regions? Where does each group of people live within those regions? How do they interact? Are there racial tensions? If so, who and why. I noticed that Everpeace has a bit of everyone. How do the different peoples live in such a city? For example, do gnolls live in their own section of the city? If so, what are the conditions? What are their opportunities like? That kind of stuff. D. Everpeace If there are no leaders and the city polices itself how does anything get built or changed? Who repairs the street when it gets worn down? What happens if there is a natural disaster in the city? Who built it specifically? If it was built after the Time of Tears then how can the magic be ancient? Who makes people disapear and alters their memory? Where do they go? What is the population of the city? Who are the important people? What are some potential adventuring sites and hooks for players? E. Bad Guys Who are the threats to the world? What are they trying to accomplish? Why? Who are their leaders? Where are they located? |
