| #1morgrayJun 08, 2009 17:47:18 | I`m a hardcore D&D-er for almost 10 years so far, and I`m still searching for some interesting material to enrich my campaigns and keep players intrigued and interested in. Well, I came to this idea several days ago and I formed a completely new demigod as latest addition to my campaign for 3.5 edition rules set. What I would like is to hear your impressions, friendly advices and overall, did you liked it or not. Thanks for your replies. ![]() Symbol: – Glimmering Eye (usually designed on silver chain, eye made out of purple stone, polished well with precious diamond in the center of it) Alignment: Neutral Good Portfolio: Support, Inspiration Domains: Good, Knowledge, Volition (read above) Favored Weapon: „Voice of Reason“ (iron-shod quarterstaff) Status: Demigod (soon ascending to Lesser Deity) (note: Clerics of Faveos usually do not use blood-shedding weapons or heavy metallic armor due to their rather specific ethos. In times of need, they are allowed for those, but only for good and noble cause.) Faveos is human-shaped deity of both inspiration and goodness within the world. He is a son of Boccob , but he took the goodness path and swore to protect and serve the humanity at his best, contradictory to his father`s neutrality towards multi-universe. He is often seen with his worshipers, and he does not hesitate to give an advice rather than intervene with his powers. He uses no physical weapons himself. His church is made of many tribute shrines around the world which are raising nowdays quite fast. Major temple of Faveos is forming in capitol, despite his warnings that he does not welcome great attention towards him. His clerics are down-to-earth people, wise sages and brave heroes who do not hesitate to help the ones in need. Clerics of Faveos pray in late morning hours after the early ceremony is done. They have 3 major holidays during the year: -Spring Gathering (at the end of winter in March, people gather themselves to help each other and re-institute the community after the cold days are out) -Great Feast (during mid summer, cherishing their wealth and willing to share plenty to the others who do not have. Also the time when Faveos appeared) - Wardings (home individual ceremonies, praying and preparing for harsh conditions of winter) History/Relations: Faveos is a "mortal" child of Boccob and some unknown celestial entity of female origin. He spent his life in Elisum, where he was taught the ways of goodness and knowledge about multi-universe, without his father tutoriage who already established his position inside the Immortal Realm. Once he got enough of courage, he decided to ascedent to the Goodhood, with great support from his father, also Pelor and Herounious. So far, he has done great deeds while he served the Holy Pantheon, but the other gods do not favor him nowdays all too much as they used too, since he stole quite a lot of worshipers from them. Thanks to his kindness and unusual, low grounded attitude, good deities do not favor his simplistic ways but they still approve his actions since he`s good and simple in heart. So far, he had no enemies since he had great support from the good gods. His path will cross evil that`s for sure, and once that comes out, his strength is about to get tested. Dogma: Life is short or long but how we spend is important. Cherish the others, help them as much as you can but try not to intervene too much rather than help them by renewing their strength and showing them the proper way. If you give your life for others, you gained two instead. One to give them, and the other for you in celestial realms. Everything has it`s reasons, and do not draw conclusions without further inspection. Deal with things tactically, wise and do not hesitate to act if you are sure about your doings. In wisdom comes strength, and through strength comes power to overcome your obstacles. Volition Domain Granted powers: His clerics gain +1 bonuses to all saving throws (as per Human Resilience Feat). Also, once per day one Personal Target spell they cast, can be normally cast to the others as well. 1. Shield 2. Lesser Dispel 3. Suggestion 4. Clearness of Mind (removes all mind affecting magic/non-magic influences [not effective against Illusions], also repairs 1d4 damage from one of Int, Wis of Cha) 5. Wave of Renewal (same as Wave of Fatigue, but heals for 1HP/caster level, also removes all types of fatigue) 6. Hardening 7. Sequester 8. Moment of Prescience 9. Crushing Hand New spells: Hardening (Transmutation) Level: Sor/Wiz 6, Artifice 7, Volition 6 Components: V, S Casting time: 1 action Range: Touch Target: One item of a volume no greater than 10 cu. ft./level (see text) Duration: Permanent Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: Yes (object) This spell increases the hardness of materials. For every two caster levels, increase by 1 the hardness of the material targeted by the spell. This hardness increase improves only the material’s resistance to damage. Nothing else is modified by the improvement. The hardening spell does not in any way affect resistance to other forms of transformation. This spell affects up to 10 cubic feet per level of the spellcaster. If cast upon a metal or mineral, the volume is reduced to 1 cubic foot per level. Moment of Prescience (Divination) Level: Luck 8, Sor/Wiz 8, Volition 8 Components: V, S Casting time: 1 standard action Range: Personal Target: You Duration: 1 hour/level or until discharged This spell grants you a powerful sixth sense in relation to yourself. Once during the spell’s duration, you may choose to use its effect. This spell grants you an insight bonus equal to your caster level (maximum +25) on any single attack roll, opposed ability or skill check, or saving throw. Alternatively, you can apply the insight bonus to your AC against a single attack (even if flatfooted). Activating the effect doesn’t take an action; you can even activate it on another character’s turn if needed. You must choose to use the moment of prescience before you make the roll it is to modify. Once used, the spell ends. You can’t have more than one moment of prescience active on you at the same time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: this is freeware content, and anyone can share or use it in whatever you see it fit. I only made this for my custom campaign and if someone finds it`s use in his/her own campaigns, it`s perfectly fine with me. :D Tell me what you think people! |
| #2XeadinJun 08, 2009 18:29:52 | Ooh! Very creative, I must say. I also did create some of my own dieties within a thread that I have created in this forum. The title is called Legends of Anorbus. It's probably located in page 5-10 or more, depending on the number of people posting and commenting on this forum... ![]() Now- not only is there a Good diety for Paladins (Heironeous), but now there is a Good diety for Clerics (Faveos)! |
| #3morgrayJun 08, 2009 19:34:57 | Thanks Xeadin for your comments! I`ll be sure to check the Legends of Anorbus as soon as possible.I had this interesting idea for few days so far, and if I dont write it asap it simply vanishes from my mind. I`ll test my crew and see how will they like the organization and well, perhaps attract some of them to try and play this special kind of priestly cleric.:D |

The only thing that I tend to do that you haven't is expanding on the back story. You told us who he was a son of, but I like to give my players a little flavor text to help them understand the god a little bit better. I do like the added holidays here is an example of one of mine before conversion to 4ed. Borrick (Intermediate God) The NightBlade, Blessed Constructer, Grand Master Craftsman Symbol: Blade in front a moon Alignment: CG Portfolio: Artifice, Craft, Construction, Smithwork Domains: Craft, Dwarf, Metal, War Favored Weapon: “The NightBlade” (greatsword) Description: A gruff, burley middle aged man with a thick black beard an hair, Borrick is seldom seen without a great sword close at hand or soot covering him and all he wears. Often towering over those around him, he is forever thinking up and crafting new means to defy the evil he has fought against for so long, and more often then not, that means a new piece of equipment to aid in the cause. Borrik is very stern and rugged in his approach to a situation, but still caring for those aligned with his cause. A firm believer in “the best defense is a strong offense”, he will always take the solution that means fighting his way through the situation, cleansing the surroundings and building a better place for the populous. Temple altars are replaced by forges, and pews for weapon racks when it comes to Borrik’s churches. Hot coals, steaming water vats, and piles of raw ores are not uncommon sights in the great forges that make up a large part of the buildings erected in the name of Borrik. Clerics in the service of the blessed constructor are seldom found without either a smith’s hammer for building, or Borrik’s often unconventional holy symbol: an ornate great sword, well suited for battle as much so as for prayer and spells. History/Relationships: Blacksmith and armorer to the gods, Borrik has had dealings with the good and the bad alike, and seldom turns anyone back. Forging for all of his mortal life, his experience grew, and eventually the gods themselves would take on a disguise to have a weapon crated by the greatest smith to ever learn the art. Because of this skill the One God of the second age granted him immortality if he would craft her a sword out of pure sunlight. Borrick knew that he had to find a way to harness the light. He asked the powers of wind and fire for aid. With them he flew up to the sun and used his mighty smithing hammer to take a large piece of the sun. He then begged the earth to use its power to enforce his forge as he hammered the pieces of the sun away. Small fragments of the sun started falling from his anvil in the sky and landing on the relms of man. People thought they were stars falling from the heavens. When the sword was almost finished he had to ask the water to cool the piece of the sun. When he plunged the great blade into the ocean it all started to rise up in steam. This scalded the left arm of the craftsman, but he refused to let the sword go unfinished. He held the blade in the salt water of the sea until it was stronger than any piece of steal. When he gave the sword to the One God, true to her word, she lifted him up to sit with her and the rest of the divine. Dogma: Crafting, smithing, and constructing make way for endless possibilities. Hard work combined with this concept makes way for technologies and quality that can be used in conjunction with undeniable faith to forge the world into a more formidable place for the forces of good. Most priests of Borrick are actually smiths themselves. They have a symbol of the NightBlade above their anvil with the symbols of each of the four elements around it. This reminds them of what it took for the Great Smith to rise to his place among the mighty. |
