Hope this is the right area;
I don't want to start a "I Hate 4E" thread because I don't hate it. I bought the core books, but all I can say is "Meh". Its ok but I prefer SWSE's system and was wondering has any 3rd party developers crossed d20 moderns talent trees with D&D for a 3.0/3.5 rules set. Creating maybe a separate Players & DMG.

Any Help would be appreciated

I was about 3/4 of the way through just such a project when 4th Ed was announced. It was subsequently put on hold to see what WotC would serve up, but once I get my copies of 4e, I may restart it.

When/if it is finished, it will be posted on this board free to use.

The basics of the mechanics were: 3 classes -- Warrior, Expert, Spellcaster. Each class learned a talent every odd level and a feat every even level, plus some number of starting feats at 1st Character level (or one of them while multiclassing).

Each class has access to four talent trees, each of which have 8 talents in them, picked out from some feat trees (weapon focus, power attack; point blank shot; etc), some from class abilities (sneak attack; favored enemy; bardic music), and the talent trees from d20 Modern.

The least developed part was the spellcasting talent trees, an intentional drop in power from the D&D casting classes. Each talent tree essentially says "you may now cast spells from X domain at Y level".

In addition to the talent trees available to each class, I intended to give each race a talent tree from which they could select no matter what class they chose (eg Elves could improve their arcane casting, Dwarves were set to improve weapon ability.)

If anyone wants to take this and run with it, go ahead; I ask only that you post your results on these boards somewhere.

Well there is the amazingly large Classically Modern project:

Of course, you might say they went a bit overboard with the use of the talent trees. If I remember correctly, I never really liked the way they stuffed magic users into those trees.
