So my wife and I asked a long time good friend of ours what she wants to do for her birthday and she asked to play drunk D&D.

So I am looking for some fun rules to play around with.

Was thinking something like every 1 on a d20 = take a shot.
Every crit = everyone else take a shot
Every healing surge spent = 1 shot.
every NPC killed = GM takes one shot.

It will just be the three of use and we don't want to get nuts to fast but at the end of the romp we want to be wasted. Can anyone offer any advice or am I in new waters here?

Your list looks fun for a game with plenty of combat... although does the DM have to count every monster as an NPC, or just NPCs with names or what? If it's every monster the DM could end up unconscious with a well-placed fireball.

I'd suggest adding a penalty for dropping to 0 hitpoints, and maybe some chances for drinks during social scenes, too.

Character drops to 0 hitpoints - player takes 3 shots.
Lose an opposed roll - 1 shot.
Character has a drink - player has a drink.
Milestone - 1 shot.
Achieve a minor quest - 2 shots.
Achieve a major quest - 3 shots.
Total Party Kill - Everyone gets naked.

Sounds like a fun night!

Haha, this sounds hilarious. Don't forget Rule 0 though - the DM is always right. He can drink as much as he wants, whenever he wants... and can make everyone do the same.

D&D combines with Ass hole the Card Game for a hilarious night no one will remember.

When the fight with the Cutlery Dragon starts: 1 shot.
When the fight with the Dire Cutlery Dragon starts: 2 shots.
When the fight with the Dire Cutlery (forks) Dragon starts: 3 shots.

I actually did that once. Well, more accuratly we all got drunk and played D&D, but yea... We just kinda took blank paper, rolled up stats (This was 3.0) and we knew enough about the game to know the base classes AB, AC, and all that good stuff. One thing that was really fun is that we switched the DM every 1/2 an hour or so, so the story (that, naturally, was completely improv) would suddenly switch. I think we went to a area with a bunch of hotbaths and got killed by some polar bears for some reason... that was a while ago I can't quite remember. Good times. Interesting "character sheets" in the morning :-)

Oh God.

This is great!

Take a glass and a sharpie and mark the side of the glass from 0 at the bottom to 20 at the top. Every time you take damage, fill the cup with beer to the proper value and slurp it down!

Critical hit against you? Take a shot on top of that.

I once created a dwarven drinking game for the PCs as a sort of minigame inside the campaign when they arrived at a dwarven stronghold. The players were pretty shocked when I brought out the actual alcohol equivalent of the different drinks in the game...

...Gosh that was a fun night.

I think. Dammit, can't remember. :D
