So for anyone who has played any of the Elder Scrolls games, you'd recall choosing a star constelation as a birthsign to give your character a bonus ability/stat boost.

I'd like to add something like this to my NEXT setting, but I don't want it to break the system for a mid-to-low magic setting, or for the birthsign to out shine any other class/race/background special ability.  With that in mind, how would I go about designing abilities for this idea?

I thought about having 12 starsigns to pick from, based on the 12 standard months in my setting.  A player can only choose 1 starsign at character creation, and the choice can never be changed.

So far i have 4 names for starsigns: The Lord, The Lady, The Stone and The Beast.

I don't know what abilities these signs should have, and I obviously need 8 more, and none of them can be too powerful.

Ideas?

EDIT:

As a theme, It may be cool to keep the names in line with old school adventuring/legend. Using that guidline, I don't think finding names for the signs would be too difficult.
